COUNTRY CLUB HILLS: The Wizards
opened play with the Swingers and built a 7-3 lead through four
innings of play. In the fifth inning the Wizards broke the game
open with a nine run inning on their way to a run rule win to open
tournament play.
In their second contest of this tournament the Wizards drew Jesse
Oaks and they pulled out to an early 4-1 lead after three innings
of play. Jesse Oaks had two runner on in the fifth inning with two
outs when their next hitter drove the ball deep into the gap in
right center field but the Wizards Dave Mikes' made a catch over
the right center fence robbing a potentially game tying three run
homer. The Wizards controlled the rest of the game from this point
on winning 10-4.
In their semifinal game of the winners bracket the Wizards pounded
out an 18-8 win over the Blackouts sending them into the undefeated
game.
Chi-Town from Country Club Hills had won the other side of the winner's
bracket as these two teams prepare to meet on the field of play.
Chi-Town jumped ahead to the early lead of 5-1 entering the fifth
inning. The Wizards caught fire in the fifth inning as they pushed
eight runs across the pay station to take a 9-5 lead. The Wizards
went on to win 10-5 to claim the winner's bracket as they got to
sit back and rest as the loser's bracket was played out to it's
conclusion before they would know who their opponent would be in
the championship game.
Chi-Town emerged from the loser's bracket to challenge the Wizards
in a rematch in the championship game. This time the Wizards came
out smoking as they grabbed a quick 7-1 lead through the first five
innings of play. The Wizards dense did the rest as the won their
third NSA tournament of the season.
