Truckers Win USSSA Class D In Oswego

Six Teams Particiapate In One Day Event On June 16th

OSWEGO: The Truckers (4-0) from Channahon won the 2007 Oswego Prairie Fest Men's Class D Tournament held at the Oswego High School on June 16th. The champions earned a paid berth to play at the 2007 USSSA Men's Class D Great Lakes National Tournament to be held in Indianapolis, IN over Labor Day Weekend. Tournament runner-up Stallions/Get Boozled B's (3-2) from Bloomingdale earned a state berth to play in Rockford at the 22007 Illinois USSSA Men's Class D state tournament.
Deerpath Creek (2-2) from Oswego finished in third place with the Bandits (1-2) from Sycamore finishing in fourth place.
The champions to be Truckers opened play with a first round 12-10 win over Deerpath Construction. In the second round of play the Trucker met and defeated the Bandits 16-5 to advance into the winner's bracket undefeated game. The Bandits had received a first round bye on a tournament that was seeded according to USSSA points earned n tournament play during the 2007 season prior to this tournament. In the winner's bracket final the Truckers played the Stallions/get Boozled B's and came away with a narrow 12-11 win to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament.
The Truckers now had to sit back and wait as the watched the loser's bracket be played out and when it was over a rematch with the Stallions/get Boozled B's was on tap for them in the title game. The truckers were up to the challenge before them winning 15-9 to claim the top prize a berth to play at the2007 USSSA Men's Class D National Tournamtn in Indianapolis, IN.
Tournament runner-up Stallions/get Boozled B's made it to the championship game by opening play with a first round 12-10 win over Deerpath Creek to advance in the bracket to the second round of play. IN that second round the Stallions/get Boozled B's met and defeated the bandits 16-5 to move into the winner's bracket championship game. The Bandits had received a first round bye in this six team event on the basis of points previously earned in 2007 Illinois USSSA tournament play.
The undefeated game the Stallions/get Boozled B's were defeated by the Truckers in a one run ball game 12-11 dropping them into the loser's bracket finals where they met and defeated Deerpath Creek 14-3 to earn a spot to play the championship game against unbeaten Truckers. The final game fell in favor of the Truckers as the Stallions/get Boozled B's were forced to accept second place after losing to the Truckers 1509 in the final game of this tournament.
