Top Notch Wins Miller Lite 'Kiss-It' Class C

Four Team Round Robin with Single Elimination Tournament

CRYSTAL LAKE: Top Notch (2-3) from Crystal Lake bounced back on Sunday to win the single elimination tournament after going winless on Saturday in the pool play portion of the 2006 Miller Lite 'Kiss-It' Men's Class C division. The champions earned a berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class C Great Lakes nationals to be held in Canton, MI over Labor Day Weekend. The Wizards (3-2) from Schaumburg finishing in second place with Four Coynes/Add-A-Bath (3-1) from Gurnee taking home third place and U Got A Bad Draw (2-2) from Crystal Lake taking home fourth place.
On Saturday Top Notch opened play with a 11-10 loss to You Got A Bad Draw in their opener of the pool portion of this tournament. Game number two was a a 13-11 loss to Four Coynes/Add-A-Bath as top notched dropped to 0-2 in pool play competition. Saturday's third and final game was loss number three as the Wizards beat Top Notch 16-13 leaving the Crystal Lake based ball club without a win in the pool play portion of this tournament.
Sunday was a new day and Top Notch came out and defeated top seeded Four Coynes/Add-A-Bath 15-11 to advance them into the finals where they were matched up with the Wizards. Top Notch got everything rolling in this game as they won easily 15-5 over the Wizards to claim the top prize from this event.
The Wizards made it to the title game by opening pool play on Saturday against Four Coynes/Add-A-Bath and came out on the short end losing 22-13. The Wizard rebounded to defeat U Got A Bad Draw in a close game 17-16 to even their record at 1-1. The Wizards ended Saturday on a winning note by defeating Top Notch 16-13.
On Sunday in the single elimination tournament it was the Wizards and U Got A Bad Draw facing one another in the first round with the Wizards winning a one run game 7-6 to advance them into the title game where they met and were defeated by Top Notch 15-5 to finish in second place at this tournament.
