Teresa's Pizza Win NSA Northern E State Title

Fourteen Teams Participate At Melas Fields On July 22nd

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS: Teresa's Pizza from Kankakee won the 2006 NSA Men's Class E Northern Illinois state title at Melas Fields in Arlington Heights on July 22nd with a perfect 5-0 record over a field of fourteen teams. Pagan O'Leary's (5-2) finished in second place with Brew Dogs (3-2) taking home third place and Kelly's Glass (4-2) finishing in fourth place. Finishing in a tie for fifth place went to both Liquor Box (2-2) and S & P Carpentry (2-2) as both Dave's Pizza (1-2) and Good Times (2-2) finished in a tie for seventh place at this tournament.
Teresa's Pizza opened play with a first round win over the Purple Helmets (no score was reported). In the second round Teresa's Pizza stopped Zumbalt & Associates in a high scoring game 20-19. Zumbalt & Associates had defeated Good Times tap in the first round of play 21-10 to advance into this second round contest against Teresa's Pizza. In their semifinal game of the winner's bracket it was Teresa's Pizza and S & P Carpentry going toe to toe with Teresa's Pizza winning ( no score was reported) to advance into the winner's bracket finals. S & P Carpentry made it to the semifinals of the winner's bracket by opening play with a first round 7-6 win over The Real Dirt Bags before stopping Dave's Pizza 12-5 in the second round of play to earn their way into this semifinal game against Teresa's Pizza. In the game that featured the last two remaining unbeaten teams left in this state tournament it was Teresa's Pizza defeating the brew Dogs 10-5 to give them the title to the winner's bracket and assuring Teresa's Pizza of a spot in the tournament's championship game against which ever team that will win the loser's bracket to earn the right to challenge them in the finals.
Pagan O'Leary's won the loser's bracket and took the field to play Teresa's Pizza for the 2006 NSA Men's Class E State title. Teresa's Pizza came into this game focused on their team goal of winning the state title and went about the business of doing so as they won the 2006 N.S.A. Men's Class E Northern State title over Pagan O'Leary's 12-2.
Pagan O'Leary's made it to the state championship game by going the long way around as they dropped their opening game to the Liquor Box 12-11 to find them selves in the loser's bracket from the get go of this tournament. Pagan O'Leary's sent home Zumbalt & Associates first winning 17-12 to advance in the bracket. Next to exit this state tournament at the hands of Pagan O'Leary's was Dave's Pizza (no score was reported). Sweet Revenge was next for Pagan O'Leary's as the y got to send home the team that had put them in the loser's bracket in the first round, Liquor Box by a final score of 16-9. Kelly Glass was excused with fourth place after they were defeated by Pagan O'Leary's 16-8. Now only the brew Dogs stood between Pagan O'Leary and the chance to play for the 2006 NSA Men's Class E Northern State title. Pagan O'Leary kept up the roll as a team sending the Brew Dogs home with third place after beating them 10-8 to advance into the 2006 NSA Men's Class E Northern State title game. But this is where Pagan O'Leary's dreams of winning the state title ended as Teresa's Pizza completed their undefeated run to the state championship by defeating Pagan O'Leary's 12-2 to send them home with second place from this tournament.
