Team BP Wins USSSA Women's B/C State

At Forest Hills Diamonds In Rockford On August 11th

Illinois USSSA Women's Class B/C State Champions Team BP from Rockford

ROCKFORD: Team BP (7-1) from Rockford dropped their second game to Add-A-Bath / Demarini (2-2) from Gurnee 11-7 before bouncing back to run off six straight wins to claim the crown as the 2007 Illinois USSSA Women's Class B/C State champions. The champion's needed to double dip Stage II (2-2) from St Louis 11-5 and 11-8 in the championship game. Add-A-Bath / Demarini finished in third place with PCC Power (1-3) finishing in fourth place.
Team BP was led to the title by the play of their left fielder Stephanie Miller who was named as the MVP of the 2007 Illinois USSSA Women's Class B/C State Tournament her outstanding playing during this tournament. Joining Miller on the All-State Tournament team were her Team BP teammates Kate Lootens, Sue Stein and Morgan Mason.
Team BP opened play with a first round game against LPH Softball from Rockford and posted a 13-7 victory onto the bracket board to advance in the bracket. In their second game on Saturday Team BP stubbed their toe losing to Add-A-Bath / Demarini 11-7 dropping the Rockford ladies into the loser's bracket. Add-A-Bath / Demarini had beaten the Northern Diamonds from Rockford 21-8 in the first round of play to advance into this contest against Team BP.
Now playing in the loser's bracket team BP got everything back together and started a winning steak by posting a 5-3 victory over Rainbow Separation from Belvedere to advance in the bracket.
Next up for Team BP was a contest against the Northern Diamonds and once again Tem BP emerged victorious winning 7-1 to continue their march towards the championship contest.
PCC Power was sent to the parking t lot to pack their cars for the trip back home next after Team BP hung another win up n the bracket board by a final score of 8-1.
Now only Add-A-Bath / Demarini, the team that had put Team BP into the loser's bracket stood between the Rockford ladies and a chance to play for the 2007 Illinois USSA Women's Class B/C state title. Team BP made the most of this opportunity as they took a pound of flesh gaining revenge over the team that had beaten them earlier in the day and also earning a chance to play for the state title after winning 10-5 over Add-A-Bath / Demarini in the loser's bracket championship game.
Now only two team teams remained active in the tournament as they took the field to play one another. Team BP evened the tournament at one loss each after posting an 11-5 win onto the bracket board over previously unbeaten Stage II ball club.
Now one game, one game only with the state title hanging in the balance for the winning team. Team BP complete their long trek to that state title by eliminating Stage II in the 'if necessary game' by a final score of 11-8 to become the 2007 Illinois USSSA Women's Class B/C State champions.
The Stage II Ladies were led to their second place finish by the play of their left fielder Sara Noland who was named as the 'Defensive MVP' of the 2007 Illinois USSSA Women's Class B/C State tournament. Joining Noland on the 'All-State' Tournament team were her Stage II teammates Lisa Harvey, Cynthia Evans and Jennifer Jackson.
Stage II made it to the title game by opening play with a first round bye in this tournament. In the second round Stage II and Rainbow Separation tangled with each other as the St Louis based ladies came out on top winning 12-8 to advance them into the winner's bracket finals. Rainbow Separation had beaten PCC Power 14-6 in the first round of tournament play to earn their way in top this second round game against Stage II.
