TB's/Venetian III Win's USSSA Class E In Rockford

Fifteen Teams Take Part At Forest Hills Diamonds On June 11th & 12th

ROCKFORD: TB's/Venetian III (6-1) from Rockford won the fifteen team USSSA Men's Class E National Qualifier played at the Forest Hills Diamonds Complex in Rockford on June 11th and 12th when they double dipped Iverson Decorating/Neighbors Bar & Grill (4-2) from Rockford 8-7 and 22-8 in the finals. The champions earned a berth to play at the 2005 USSSA Men's Class E Great lakes national Tournament to be held at Waterloo, Iowa on September 3rd through 6th. B.A.C. Greyhounds (6-2 took home third place, Steve's Maid Rite (4-2) was fourth with Sherwin Williams (2-2) and Haas Towing (1-2) tying for fifth place at this tournament.
TB's/Venetian III opened tournament play with a first round 17-3 win over the Bears Den. In the second round of tournament action TB's/Venetian III met and defeated Baseball Tap 14-11 in the second round of play. Baseball Tap had advanced to the second round by posting a 10-5 win over Splitters in the first round of tournament action.
In their semifinal game of the winner's bracket TB's/Venetian III met and defeated Sherwin Williams 16-11 to move into the winner's bracket finals. Sherwin Williams made it to the semifinals of the winner's bracket by defeating SMC Roofing 6-1 in the foist round before posting a 14-4 win over Steve's Maid-Rite in the second round of tournament play.
In the battle of the last two remaining unbeaten teams TB's/Venetian III took it on the chin as they were defeated by TB's/Venetian III 13-9 dropping them into the loser's bracket.
TB's/Venetian III now had to defeat B.A.C. Greyhounds in order to earn a second shot at Iverson Decorating/Neighbors Bar & Grill and they did just that winning by a single run 6-5 to get back into the tournaments championship game.
TB's/Venetian III now need to win two in a row over the team that had handed them a loss earlier in the day and that is exactly what they did posting a narrow 87 win to force the playing of the 'if necessary game'. The extra game was all TB's/Venetian III as they won impressively over TB's/Venetian III 22-8 to wrap up their championship of this tournament.

Second String made it to the second round of play by defeating Northern Illinois Optical 8-6 in the first round of tournament action.
On Sunday Iverson Decorating/Neighbors Bar & Grill met and defeated Haas Towing 19-11 to put them into the winner's bracket championship game. Haas Towing made it top this semifinal game by opening with a first round bye before getting a walk over win against SM & SF Club who failed to field enough players at game time to play their second round game against Haas Towing.
In the battle between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Iverson Decorating/Neighbors Bar & Grill squaring off with TB's/Venetian III and defeating them 13-9 to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament which also assured them of playing in the championship game against whichever team that would win the loser's bracket to challenge them in the finals. That team turned out to be TB's/Venetian III and the challenger was up to the task at hand as they defeated Iverson Decorating/Neighbors Bar & Grill twice 8-7 and 22-8 to wrestle the tournament title away from the Iverson Decorating/Neighbors Bar & Grill ball club who were forced to accept second place from this tournament.
