Straightline Mowing Champions Of USSSA Class E

Thirteen Teams Participate At Byron Sports Complex On June 25th

BYRON: Thirteen teams enter to play at the Illinois USSSA Men's Class D/E Equalizer Great Lakes National Tournament Qualifier held at they Byron Sports complex in Byron on June 25th with Straightline Mowing (5-0) from Rockford walking off with the top prize. Ledgends Sports Barr & Grill from Rockford finished in second place but was the top finishing Class E team in this tournament. M & S Express (4-2) from Plano finished in third place with Lovell's (3-2) from De Kalb taking home fourth place from this tournament.
Straightline Mowing opened tournament play with an 18-4 win over Andy's Hauling and Elite Gutters in the first round of tournament action. In their second game Straightline Mowing met and defeated Rob Dal Santo Painting 7-5 to move into the semifinal round of this tournament. Rob Dal Santo Painting made it to the second round by opening play with a first round victory over Carpetland USA 14-2.
In their semifinal game of the winner's bracket it was Straightline Mowing defeating M & S Xpress by a margin of 16-6 to move into the tournaments undefeated game. M & S Xpress made it to this semifinal game by opening play with a 12-1 win over Off Constantly in the first round before defeating Lovell's 12-7 in the second round of action to advance into this semifinal game of the winner's bracket.
In the battle between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Straightline Mowing edging Legends Sports Bar & Grill 6-5 to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament and also assuring them a spot in the championship game against whichever team that is left in the tournament that emerges from the loser's bracket to challenge them in the finals.
After the wait was over it was a rematch with Legends Sports Bar Grill that awaited Straightline Mowing in the finals. However, Legends Bar & Grill being the top finishing Class E team from this tournament had nothing left to win (Note* Illinois USSSA rules requires that both the top finishing teams from each class in an equalizer tournament receive the same award package) decided to not play the championship game and finished in second place at this tournament losing to Straightline Mowing 7-0.

Legends Bar & Grill made it to the championship game by opening play with a first round win over C & C Plumbing 9-6. I their second game Legends Bar & Grill squared off with the Byron Bank/Cave Inn ball club and posted a narrow 7-6 win up onto the bracket board to move into the semifinal round of the winner's bracket. Byron Bank/Cave Inn had received a first round bye to move into this second round contest with Legends Bar & Grill.
Ledgends Bar & Grill now took the field with High N Tight occupying the other dugout across the infield from them in a semifinal contest of this tournament with Ledgends Bar & Grill posting a 6-4 win onto the bracket board to advance into the winner's bracket finals.
Ledgends Bar & Grill tasted defeat in this game as Straightline Mowing edged them by a single run 6-5 dropping them into the loser's bracket finals where they needed to post one more victory in order to get back into the championship game.
Ledgends Bar & Grill took care of business in the loser's bracket finals by pounding out an impressive 13-7 win over M & S Express to earn second shot at the tournament title.
Ledgends Bar & Grill decided not to play the championship game since they already were assured the top Class E prize package offered at this tournament leaving only the honor of being the first place team left to play for.
