Straightline Mowing Champions Of 2005 Byron Fest

Eighteen Teams Participant At Annual Fest Tournament On July 8th - 10th

BYRON: Straightline Mowing (6-1) came back to win three straight game after dropping the winner's bracket finals to Wheels By RT/Shoe Carnival (4-2) 7-5 including a double dipping of Wheels By RT/Shoe Carnival 13-11 and 12-8 to win the eighteen teams, USSSA Men's Class C/D Equalizer Tournament at the 2005 Byron Fest. Straightline Mowing who had previously won a 2005 USSSA qualifying tournament converted to top prize into sponsor travel money. Byron Bank/Cave Inn/Costa/6-4-3 (5-2) from Byron finished in third place; Shamrock Mortgage (3-2) from Oswego took home fourth place with both Paul Davis Restoration (3-2) from Rockford and Tri-Pods (2-2) from Byron tying for fifth place at this tournament.
Straightline Mowing opened tournament play with a first round contest against Tiger Tail Lounge from Byron and came away with a 15-5 victory to move into the second round of action.
Straightline Mowing tied up with Blackhawk Athletic Club/Mizuno from Rockford in the second round of tournament action and they came away with a 9-3 win to move into the semifinal of the winner's bracket. Blackhawk Athletic Club/Mizuno had won their first round game over Andy's Hauling/Elite Gutters 9-8 to advance into this second round contest with Straightline Mowing.
In their semifinal game of the winner's bracket it was Straightline Mowing over Tri-Pods 16-4 putting Straightline Mowing into the winner's bracket championship game. Tri-Pods made it to this semifinal game of the winner's bracket by opening play with a 17-16 win over Neighbors bar & Grill in the first round of tournament play before they defeated Paul Davis Restoration 6-5 in the second round of tournament play.
In the battle between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival over Straightline Mowing 7-5 dropping Straightline Mowing into the loser's bracket championship game where they needed to win three straight games now in order to win this tournament.
Straightline Mowing went to work at doing just that as they started with a game against Byron Bank/Cave Inn/Costa/6-4-3. The winner of this game earned he right to challenge unbeaten Wheels By R.T./Shoes Carnival in the championship game. Straightline Mowing did what they needed to do as they wont his qualifying contest 7-6 over Byron bank/Cave Inn/Costa/6-4-3
Now Straightline Mowing needed to upend the team that had given them their loss twice in order to win this tournament. Straightline Mowing won that first game 13-1 to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' play in order to determine which of these two team would web the Tournamtn champion. In that extra game it was Straightline Mowing over Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival 12-8 as Straightline Mowing complete their comeback dream of winning this tournament.

Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival made it to the championship game by winning the winner's bracket they did that by opening play against SMC Roofing and coming away with a narrow 8-7 win to move into the second round of this tournament.
Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival than squared off with Byron Bank/Cave Inn/Costa/6-4-3 in the second round and they won another one run ball game sending the Byron ball club into the loser's bracket after beating them 9-8 to advance into the semifinals of the winner's bracket. Byron bank/Cave Inn/Costa/6-4-3 had advance into this game by defeating the booze Brothers 5-3 in the first round of tournament play.
Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival continued to play close game as they locked horns with Shamrock Mortgage and came away with another narrow win, but a win just the same 6-4 to move into the tournament' undefeated game. Shamrock Mortgage made it into this semifinal game of the winner's bracket by opening play with a first round win over Neighbors Bar & Grill 7-2 and than they defeated Fusion 16-3 in the second round.
Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival won the winner's bracket by stopping Straightline Mowing 7-5 in the battle between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten teams. Now Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival had to sit back and wait as the loser's bracket needed to be played out to its conclusion before they would know which team would be their opponent in the championship game.
After the last out had been recorded in the loser's bracket rematch with Straightline Mowing awaited Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival in the championship game. Perhaps the wait effect them or perhaps Straightline Mowing just got hot as a team but it was Straightline Mowing over Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival twice 13-11 in the first game and 12-8 in the extra game to send Wheels By R.T./Shoe Carnival back home with second place from this tournament.
