Souse's Lounge / Fuzion Wins USSSA Class E

Ten Teams Participated At Forest Hills Diamonds In Rockford On August 5 & 6

Souse's Lounge/Fuzion Champions of USSSA Class E At Forest Hills Diamonds In Rockford

ROCKFORD: Souses Lounge / Fuzion (3-0) from Rockford won the rain shortened USSSA Men's Class E qualifier played at the Forest Hills Diamonds in Rockford on August 5th &76th. Field conditions caused to cancellation of the remainder of the tournament after a steady train made the fields unsafe to play upon with three teams still alive in the bracket. Souse's Lounge / Fusion ball club was awarded the title base on the fact that they were the only unbeaten team left in the tournament. First Place included a berth to play at the 20006 USSSA Great Lakes Men's Class E National Tournament to be held in Rockford over Labor Day Weekend. Second place went to Harlem Road Automotive (2-1) from Rockford who lost in the winner's bracket undefeated game to Souse's Lounge / Fusion. The Rebels (5-1) took home third place based on the fact that they were still left alive in this tournament with fourth place going to Guerilla Graffix (4-2) from Rockford.
Souse's Lounge / Fuzion opened play with an 8-6 win over the Rebels in the first round of play in this ten team tournament to advance into the semifinal of the winner's bracket. In their second contest of this tournament on Saturday it was Souse's Lounge / Fuzion defeating the Booze Brothers / Meridian Implement from Winnebago by a final score of 12-11 to put the Rockford based ball club into the winner's bracket finals. Souse's Lounge / Fuzion and Harlem Road Automotive went toe to toe in the undefeated game of the winner's bracket with Souse's Lounge / Fuzion squeaking out a 6-5 win to claim the title to the winner's bracket. Now Souse's Lounge / Fuzion had to wait until Sunday afternoon to meet the champion of the loser's bracket in the title game but that game never was played due to the field conditions that stopped play before the loser's bracket championship game was played. When the remainder of the tournament was canceled because of the field conditions Souse's Lounge / Fuzion was award the first place prize package on the fact that they were the only unbeaten team left in this tournament.
Harlem Road Automotive took home the second place prize package by opening play with a 17-6 win over Rockford Rescue Mission in the first round of tournament play on Saturday. Harlem Road Automotive improved to 2-0 with a 7-3 win over Tony's Oyster Bar from Freeport with a 7-3 win I their semifinal game of the winner's bracket. Harlem Road Automotive was now playing Souse's Lounge / Fuzion in the undefeated game of the winner's bracket with Harlem Road Automotive coming out on the short end of a 6-5 final score to drop them into Sunday's afternoon's loser's bracket championship game. Field conditions dictated that this game could not be played on Sunday so based on the fact that two teams were still left alive in the loser's bracket second place went to Harlem Road Automotive because that went further in the winner's bracket than third place Rebels did.
