Schoenholtz Trucking Wins USSSA Class D On July 14th

Six Teams, One Day - National Qualifier At Klatt Field In Plano

PLANO: Schoenholtz Trucking (5-1) from Paw Paw dropped their opening game in the six team one day Men's Class D USSSA National Qualifying Tournament held at Klatt Field in Plano on July 14th before bouncing back to win five straight games including a double dipping of Deerpath Creek (2-2) from Oswego to win this tournament. The champions earned a berth to play at the 2007 USSSA Men's Class D National Tournament to be held over Labor Day weekend at Indianapolis, IN plus a berth to play at the 2007 Illinois USSSA Men's Class D state tournament. The Truckers (1-2) from Channahon finished in third place with the Milk Jugs (1-2) from Tinley Park taking home fourth place from this event.
Schoenholtz Trucking opened play with a 12-8 loss to EHC / Nelson /Team Noble from Crystal lake in the first round of play send the men from Paw Paw to the loser's bracket from the get go of this tournament.
Now Schoenholtz Trucking was facing a any loss situation would send them packing the car for the trip back home as they took the field to play Fuel from Elgin in the loser's bracket and posted a narrow 10-9 win onto the bracket board to advance in this tournament.
In their next contest Schoenholtz Trucking and the Milk Jugs squared off with one another as the Paw Paw based ball club started to build up ahead of stream winning 16-4 to move into the loser's bracket finals.
Now only the Truckers stood between Schoenholtz Trucking and playing for the tournament championship, as the Schoenholtz Trucking team kept moving forward as they posted another win onto the bracket board by a final score of 10-7.
Now it was Schoenholtz Trucking and unbeaten Deerpath Creek playing each other in the championship game with Schoenholtz Trucking needing two wins to claim the title. Schoenholtz Trucking went about gain those two win as they won the first game 10-7 over Deerpath Creek to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two ball clubs in order to be able to determine which of them would win the title to this double elimination tournament. In the deciding game Schoenholtz Trucking prevailed over Deerpath Creek 11-8 to win the title and forcing the Oswego based ball club to accept second place from this tournament.
Tournament runner-up Deerpath Creek opened play with a first round bye because the tournament was seeded on points earned from previous 2007 USSSA tournament play. In the second round it was Deerpath Creek defeating EHC / Nelson /Team Noble 10-3 to put Deerpath Creek into the winner's bracket finals. EHC / Nelson / Team Noble had beaten Schoenholtz Trucking 12-8 in the first round of play to advance into this game against Deerpath Creek.
In the winner's bracket's undefeated game Deerpath Creek and the Truckers play one another as the Oswego based Deerpath Creek squad posted a 7-4 win onto the bracket board to assure them of a spot in the tournament's championship game against whichever team that would emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge them in the finals. The Truckers made it into this game by receiving a first round bye before taking on and defeating Fuel 4-2 in the second round of tournament play.
The championship round of game s did not fare well for the Deerpath Creek ball club as they were upended twice by Schoenholtz Trucking losing 7-4 in the first game and 11-8 in the 'if necessary game' to finish this tournament in second place.
