Sauder Sports Wins ISA Class E

Ten Teams Participate At Route 130 Complex In Urbana On Aug. 6th

URBANA: Sauder Sports (5-1) bounced back to run off three straight wins included a double dipping of Drake Homes (4-2) who had handed Sauder Sports a loss in the undefeated game to win the ten team ISA Men's Class E qualifier played at the Route 130 Sports Complex in Urbana on August 6th. Drake Homes finished in second place with Floyd Daley (3-2) taking home third place and Willy's Pub (2-2) finishing in fourth place at this tournament.
Sauder Sports opened tournament action with a first round contest against JHB and promptly posted an 11-3 win up onto the bracket board to advance into the second round of play.
Sauder Sports were matched with Headfirst in the second round and they won a close game by defeating Headfirst 10-9 to move into the winner's bracket finals. Headfirst made it into this second round game by defeating LAF 7-0 in the first round of tournament action.
In the undefeated game it was Sauder Sports stubbing their toe as they lost to Drake Homes 10-9 to send them into the loser's bracket where they now needed to win the loser's bracket championship game and than double dip Drake Homes to win this tournament.
Sauder Sports squared off with Floyd Daley first and defeated them 10-5 to win the loser's bracket giving them the right to oppose Drake Homes in the finals.
Sauder Sports came into this first championship game wanting to make a clear statement to their opponent and did just that by defeating Drake Homes 12-1 to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played in order to determine which of these two teams would be the champion on this day.
In that extra game both teams laid it on the line as they went at each other with everything that had left on this long and hot day of tournament softball and when the last out had been record into the scorebook the scoreboard read Sauder Sports 17 and Drake Homes 14 giving this tournament title to Sauder Sports.

Tournament runner up Drake homes managed to win the winner's bracket before coming up a little short in the final game to finish in second place at this tournament. Drake Hokes drew a pig tail game in which they defeated Slick Rick's 17-1 to move into the regular bracket of this tournament. In their first round contest it was Drake Homes edging out Floyd Dailey 6-5 to advance into the second round of tournament play.
In their second round game Drake Homes stopped Willy's Pub 7-3 to advance into the winner's bracket championship game. Willy's Pub made it to this second round game by defeating the Brass Rail 12-2 in the first round of this tournament.
In the battle between the last two unbeaten teams it was Drake Homes over Sauder Sports in a close one run ball game 10-9 to give them the winner's bracket and assuring them a of a spot in the tournament's championship game against whichever team that manages to win the loser's bracket and earn the right to oppose them in the finals.
That team turned out to be Sauder Sports and in the rematch of the championship game Sauder Sport hit rake Homes with an old fashion haymaker defeating them 12-1 to force the need to play the 'if necessary game' between these two teams in order to determine which of them would be the tournament champion. The extra game was everything that a tournament championship game should be. Lots of great hits and lots of good defensive plays but after the last out had been record it was Drake Homes on the short end of a 17-14 score as they finished in second place to Sauder Sports at this tournament.
