Illinois State Tournament Lakota Tribe From Champaign
The Lakota Tribe came out on fire and
promptly defeated the Salty Dogs 15-2 to even this tournament at
one loss each and set the stage to have the 'if necessary game'
played between these two squads in order to be able to determine
which of them would wear the crown as the 2007 ASA Men's Class C
Northern Illinois State champion.
The Salty Dogs regained their focus as a team in that extra game
winning 14-7 to put their names into the record book as teh2007
ASA Men's Class C Northern State champion.
Tournament runner up the Lakota Tribe made it to the championship
game by opening play on Saturday evening with a 6-4 win over Parkway
Auto Laundry from Bloomington in the first round of tournament action.
On Saturday morning it was the Lakota Tribe playing Well Hung Drywall
in a close game that saw the Lakota Tribe being one run better on
this Saturday morning winning 10-9 to advance into the third round
of play later on Saturday. Well Hung Drywall had received a first
round bye to advance into this second round contest against the
Lakota Tribe.
Now playing on Saturday afternoon the Lakota Tribe met and defeated
E.M. Sheet Metal from East Moline 16-4 to advance them into a semifinal
game of the winner's bracket at the 2007 ASA Men's Class C Northern
Illinois State Tournament.
On Sunday morning bight and early the Lakota Tribe stopped the Frozen
Ropes 7-4 to advance into the game that would feature the last two
remaining unbeaten teams left in this tournament. The Frozen Ropes
made it to this semifinal game of the winner's bracket by opening
play against Casey's tavern wining 12-8 on Friday evening. On Saturday
morning it was the Frozen Ropes over Logan's from Freeport 14-11.
On Saturday afternoon the Frozen Ropes had met and defeated the
Bad Boys 12-8 to advance into Sunday mornings semifinal of the winner's
bracket and a date with the Lakota Tribe.
The Lakota Tribe would taste defeat I their next contest as they
were beaten by the Salty Dogs16-8. Now playing with their back against
the wall the Lakota Tribe softball club bounced back to send home
the Scooters with third place after beating them 13-10.
Now the Lakota Tribe had the opportunity to take some revenge over
the team that had put them into the loser's bracket earlier in the
day and they did just that winning 15-2 over the Salty Dogs to even
this tournament at one loss each for these two ball clubs. Now in
the 'if necessary game' the Lakota Tribe came up on the short end
of a 14-7 final score force them to accept second place from this
tournament.
