Rosati's Of Wheaton Wins Byron Fest Women's Class C

Six Teams Participate At Annual Fest Tournament On July 8th - 10th

Rosati's Of Wheaton Champions At 2005 Byron Fest Women's Class C

BYRON: Rosati's Of Wheaton from Warrenville went an unbeaten 4-0 to win the 2005 Women's USSSA Class C tournament held in conjunction with Byron Fest. The champions converted the paid berths into sponsor travel money since they already have earned both USSSA national & Illinois state berths in earlier tournament play this year. Blackhawk Athletic Club (2-2) from Rockford finished in second place, Ispen International (2-2) from Belvidere took home third place with High Voltage (1-2) from St Charles finishing in fourth place.
Rosati's Of Wheaton opened play in this six team event with a first round game against Ispen International and posted a 5-2 win onto the bracket board to advance into the second round of tournament action.
Rosati's Of Wheaton now square off with Dilligaf and came away with a 6-4 win to move them into the winner's bracket finals of this tournament. Dilligaf had received a first round bye to move into this second round contest with Rosati's Of Wheaton
In the game between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Rosati's Of Wheaton defeating Blackhawk Athletic Club 5-0 to win the winner's bracket.
Now Rosati's Of Wheaton had to sit back and wait as the loser's bracket needed to be played out to its conclusion before they would know who their opponent in the championship game would be.
When the last out of the loser's bracket had been recorded a rematch with Blackhawk Athletic Club awaited Rosati's Of Wheaton in the championship game.
Rosati's Of Wheaton broke out on top early holding a 5-0 lead midway through this game when the Blackhawk Athletic Club made their move to get back into the game. As the innings dwindled the score became tighter and tighter until the last out was made and at that time Rosati's Of Wheaton was holding a one run lead 9-8 and that was good enough for the tournaments championship over the Blackhawk Athletic Club at the 2005 Byron Fest Women's Class C Tournament.

Blackhawk Athletic Club had received a first round bye in this tournament that was seeded according to total points earned in 2005 USSSA Women's competition. The ladies from Rockford opened tournament play in the second round by posting a 12-2 win over Vortex to move into the tournament's unbeaten game between the last two remaining undefeated teams. Vertex had advanced into this second round contest with the Blackhawk Athletic Club by defeating High Voltage 5-4 in the first round of play.
Blackhawk Athletic Club lost the undefeated game to Rosati's Of Wheaton by a final score of 5-0 to drop them into the loser's bracket finals where they needed to win over Ispen International in order to get a second chance at defeating Rosati's Of Wheaton in the finals. Blackhawk Athletic Club did just that as they stopped Ispen International by a final score of 13-6 to earn that second chance at Rosati's Of Wheaton.
In the championship game Blackhawk Athletic Club found themselves down 5-0 before they came roaring back to make a game out of it but in the end they were one run short when the final out was recorded leaving them with second place from this tournament.
