Rope Club / Tirabassi Wins State

I.S.A. Class C State Champions At Melas Park In Arlington Heights

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS: Rope Club / Tirabassi (4-1) from Chicago won the 2006 I.S.A. Men's Class C State championship tournament played at Melas Fields in Arlington Heights on July 29th over a field of seven teams entered. Rope Club / Tirabassi defeated Players, Inc (3-2) from Chicago 10-7 in the 'if necessary game' to win the state title. Chicago Steel (3-2) from Huntley finished in third place with Full Tilt Softball (1-2) from Naperville taking home fourth place from this tournament.
Rope Club / Tirabassi opened tournament play with a first round game against Caps / Fury from Lombard and posted a 19-7 win onto the bracket board to advance in the bracket. In their second game it was Rope Club / Tirabassi against Creative Design from Palos Hills with Rope Club / Tirabassi coming away with a 17-15 win to put them into the winner's bracket finals. Creative Design had beaten Die Hard from Schaumburg 12-9 to advance into this second round contest with Rope Club / Tirabassi. In the game that featured the last two remaining unbeaten teams left in this tournament it was the Rope Club / Tirabassi against Players, Inc. for the first of three head to head meetings on this Saturday with the Rope Club / Tirabassi winning 15-12 to capture the title to the winner's bracket.
Now Rope Club / Tirabassi had to sit and wait until the loser's bracket had been played out to it's conclusion before knowing which of the remaining teams would be their opponent in the championship game. When the loser's bracket was completed it was a rematch with Players, Inc. that awaited Rope Club Tirabassi in the 2006 I.S.A. Men's Class C State Championship game. Players, Inc. came out and drew blood by winning a one run game over Rope Club / Tirabassi 9-8 and in doing so forced the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two ball clubs in order to determine which of them would be the 2006 I.S.A. Men's Class C State Champions. Rope Club / Tirabassi won that deciding game 10-7 over Players, Inc to claim the 2006 ISA Men's Class C state title.
Players, Inc. made it to the state title game in the ISA Men's Class C state tournament by opening with a first round bye before taking on and defeating Chicago Steel 23-15 in the second round of play. Chicago Steel had previously defeated Full Tilt Softball 12-8 in the first round of play to advance into this second round contest with Players, Inc.
In the game between the tournament's last two unbeaten team Players, Inc stubbed their toe by losing to Rope Club / Tirabassi 15-12 to drop them into the loser's bracket finals.
Players, Inc. rebounded quickly and sent Chicago Steel to the parking lot to pack their cars for the trip back home with third place after beating them 12-2. Now Players, Inc. had a chance at gaining some revenge and they did just that by handing Rope Club / Tirabassi a 9-8 loss to even the tournament one game each and force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two ball clubs in order to determine which of them would leave with the 2006 ISA Men's Class C state title. That club turned out to be the Rope Club / Tirabassi as Players, Inc lost to them 10-7 in the final contest of this year's state tournament to finish in second place.
