Roger Dorn Wins I.S.A. E State

Double Dips Adams Apple At The Brickhouse Complex In Urbana

Roger Dorn - 2006 Illinois I. S. A. Men's Class E State Champions

URBANA: Roger Dorn (6-1) from Park Ridge was upended by Adams Apple (4-2) in the winner's bracket undefeated game 11-9 before running off three straight wins including a double dipping of Adams Apple 13-3 and 14-2 to win the 2006 I.S.A. Men's Class E State Tournament played at the Brickhouse Complex in Urbana on August 19th & 20th. Twenty-four teams participated in this tournament with Theresa Pizza (4-2) from Peotone taking home third place, In Your Face (4-2) from Urbana finishing in fourth place. Round out the top eight teams were Earps (4-2) from Peoria Heights and Off In The Woods (2-2) from Washington finishing in a tie for fifth place as both Webb's Roadhouse (4-2) from East Peoria and CIC (2-2) from Pekin finishing in a tie for seventh place at this year's Illinois I.S.A. Men's Class E State Tournament.
Roger Dorn was led by the play of John Welk who was named as the 'Most Valuable Player' of the 2006 Illinois I.S.A. Men's Class E State Tournament. He was joined on the 2006 Illinois ISA Men's Class E All-State Tournament team by his Roger Dorn teammates Brian Wsol, Anthony Anichini, Mike Mazurkiewicz, Mike Zuhr, Bryan Smaha with Zuhr also being named as the 'Manager' of the 2006 Illinois I.S.A. Men's Class E All-State Tournament team.
Roger Dorn received a first round bye before taking on and defeating Bit O'Blarney from New Lenox 11-6 in the second round of tournament action in the winner's bracket. Bit O'Blarney had defeated J & T Delivery from Washington 10-1 in the first round to advance into their second round game with Roger Dorn.
On Saturday afternoon it was Roger Dorn and In Your Face locking up with one another as the Park Ridge based ball club upped their state Tournamtn record to 2-0 with a 9-7 win over In Your Face from Urbana to advance into Saturday evenings semifinal round of the winner's bracket. In Your face had received a first found bye before stopping the McComas All-Stars from Springfield 12-8 in the second round of tournament play to advance into this game against Roger Dorn.
On Saturday evening with only four teams still alive in the winner's bracket it was Roger Dorn locking horns with Theresa Pizza in a close game that saw Roger Dorn winning by a single run over the Peotone challenger 15-14 to advance into Sunday's winner's bracket finals as one of only two unbeaten teams left in this tournament. Theresa Pizza made it to this semifinal game of the winner's bracket by receiving a first round bye before defeating the Diamond Dogs from Peoria 13-10 in the second round of play on Saturday afternoon before they posted a 20-10 win over the Chiefs from Champaign in the third round of play to earn the right to oppose Roger Dorn in a semifinal game of the winner's bracket of this years Illinois I.S.A. Men's Class E State Championship Tournament.
On Sunday morning it was Roger Dorn and Adams Apple for the first for what proved to be three meetings between these two ball clubs on this day. Adams Apple drew first blood with an 11-9 win to send Roger Dorn to the loser's bracket where they needed to now win three straight games including two over Adams Apple in order to win this tournament.
Roger Dorn went to work and got their ship back on course as they met Theresa Pizza for the second time in this tournament and posted their second win over the Peotone ball club winning big by a final score of 14-2 to earn a second chance at both unbeaten Adams Apple and the state tournament title that they came to win at this tournament.
Roger Dorn was focused as a when they took the field of play in the 2006 Illinois ISA Men's Class E State Championship game. They came out with vengeance and tore a pound of flesh from the unbeaten Adams Apple ball club by clubbing out a 13-3 win to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two ball clubs in order to determine which of them would were the crown as the 2006 Illinois I.S.A. Men's Class E State Champions.
The team that does were the crown as the 2006 Illinois I.S.A. Men's Class E State champions is Roger Dorn they pounded out another one side win over Adams Apple 14-2 to put the finishing touches on their state championship season.
Adams Apple made it to the 2006 Illinois I.S.A. Men's Class E state championship game behind the defensive play of Rob Lane who was named as the 'Gold Glove' fielder of this 2006 ISA Men's Class E State Tournament. Joining Lane on the 2006 Illinois ISA Men's Class E All-State Tournament team were his Adams Apple teammates Dave Smith, Trent Hamilton, Jason Gordon and Logan Tyler. Adams Apple started their tournament play with a first round bye before taking on and defeating Webs Roadhouse from East Peoria 13-10 in the second round of play on Saturday morning. Webs Roadhouse had beaten Hooters 7-0 in the first round of play to advance into this second round contest against Adams Apple. On Saturday afternoon it was Adams Apple and C & R Motors squaring off with one another as Adams Apple got the better of it on this day winning 13-4 to advance into Saturday evening's semifinal game of the winner's bracket. C & R Motors opened with a first round bye before stopping Scissors by Hair from Canton 17-3 in the second round to advance into this game against Adams Apple.
