Pulite Homes Win USSSA Class E In Plano

Eight Teams, One Day Event, At Klatt Field, In Plano, On June 16th

PLANO: Pulite Homes (4-0) from Joliet ran the table on a field of eight teams winning the USSSA Men's Class E National Qualifier Tournament held at Klatt Field in Plano on June 16th, 2007. The champions took home a paid berth to play at the 2007 USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National Tournament to be held in Rockford over Labor Day Weekend. Tournament runner-up J & J (3-2) from Montgomery earned a 2007 Illinois USSSA paid state tournament berth to Joliet in August. With third place finisher Northern Rehab/Whitey's passing (they had previously won a paid state berth) an unpaid berth to fourth place finisher Guerilla Graffix (2-2) from Rockford.
Pulite Homes opened tournament play with a first round one run 6-5 win over Peanut Butter Jelly Time from Bolingbrook.
In their second contest of this qualifier Pulite Homes and Guerilla Graffix lock horns with one another as the Joliet based ball club came out on top by a final score of 9-7 to advance into the winner's bracket undefeated game. Guerilla Graffix had defeated Carson Chiropractic/Emmett's Ale House from Oswego 20-7 in the first round of play to earn the right to challenge Pulite Homes in the second round of tournament play.
In the tournament last winner's bracket game featuring the last two remaining unbeaten teams left in this tournament Pulite Homes pounded out an 10-4 win over J & J to become the only unbeaten team left in this event and assuring them of a spot in the tournament's championship game against whichever team that would emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge them in the title game.
That team turned out to be J & J in a rematch of the tournaments undefeated game. In the title game Pulite Homes took care of business winning 12-9 to complete their undefeated run to the title at this tournament and claim the top prize a paid National Tournament berth to Rockford.
J & J made it to the championship game by opening tournament play with a 17-5 win over Naperville Electric/Aftershock in the first round of play. In their second contest J & J met and defeated Northern Rehab/Whitey's in a high scoring game 17-15 to advance into the undefeated game. Northern Rehab/Whitey's had slipped past Damage Goods from Sugar Grove 5-4 in the first round of play to advance into this second round game against J & J.
In the game between the last two unbeaten teams J & J tangled with Pulite Homes and came out on the short end of a 10-4 final score dropping the Montgomery based ball club into the loser's bracket were they met and defeated Northern Rehab/Whitey's for a second time by a final score of 9-4. This win earned them a second chance to play unbeaten Pulite Homes for the title but J & J came up short in their efforts falling to Pulite Homes by a final score of 12-9 and with that loss they were forced to accept second place from this tournament.
