May 6th

Primetime Softball Champions Of
USSSA C/D Equalizer At Oswego
OSWEGO: Primetime Softball from
Joliet dropped their opening game of the eight team USSSA Men's
Class C/D Equalizer event played at the Oswego High School in Oswego
On May 6th before running off six straight wins including a double
dipping of Full Title Softball who had beaten them in the first
round of tournament play 11-10 and 10-5 to win the championship.
Full Tilt Softball (3-2) from Naperville was second with Deerpath
Development (2-2) from Oswego finished in third place with Bar One
(2-2) from De Kalb taking home fourth place from this tournament.
Primetime Softball started out slow before finishing strong as they
dropped their opener to Full Tilt Softball 10-7 in the first round
of tournament play.
Now playing from the loser's bracket it was Primetime Softball getting
their first win of the day when they defeated TSB Softball from
Peoria 18-6 to advance in the bracket, next up for Primetime Softball
was a date with Joe's On Weed Street / Storm from Chicago with the
Joliet based ball club posting an 13-3 onto the bracket board to
continue their advancement through the loser's bracket.
Next up for Primetime Softball was a game with Bar One and Primetime
Softball kept rolling along as they won 11-5 to move into the loser's
bracket finals. Now only Deerpath Development stood between Primetime
Softball and a chance at getting even with Full Tilt Softball for
beating them in the first round of play. Primetime Softball made
the most of this opportunity by pounding out an 18-6 win to earn
the right to oppose unbeaten Full Tilt in the championship game
of this tournament.
Primetime Softball and Full Tilt went at one another in a tight
game that was not settled until after the final play had been made
and when that play had been recorded into the official score book
the scoreboard read Primetime Softball 11 and Full Title Softball
10 evening the tournament at one loss each. The win by Primetime
Softball force the need to play the 'if necessary game' between
these two ball clubs in order to determine which of them would be
the champion of this tournament. One game, the winner take all and
Primetime Softball came to play as they used their overall team
defense to shut down the Full Tilt Softball offensive attack winning
10-5 to claim the title to this tournament.
Full Tilt Softball made it to the championship game by opening play
with a first round win over Primetime Softball 10-7 to advance in
the winner's bracket. In the second round of play it was Primetime
Softball over Shoeless Joe's from Mokena 13-3 to put the Naperville
based ball club into the winner's bracket finals. Shoeless Joe's
had beaten TSB Softball 14-11 in the first round of play to advance
into this second round match up with Full Tilt Softball. In the
undefeated game it was Full Tilt Softball winning the winner's bracket
and assuring them of a spot in the tournament's championship game
against whichever team that would win the loser's bracket when they
stopped Deerpath Development 19-3. Deerpath Development made it
to the championship game of the winner's bracket by opening play
with a first round win over the Squad from Joliet 19-7, before beating
Joe's On Weed Street / Storm 7-6 in a semifinal game of the winner's
bracket.
Now Full Tilt Softball had to sit and wait until the loser's bracket
was complete and when it was a rematch with their first round opponent
Primetime Softball was in store for the Naperville ball club.
The first championship game was as close as any game could be a
one run ball game with Full Tilt Softball coming up a single run
short losing to Primetime 11-10. In the 'if necessary game' it was
Primetime over Full Tilt Softball 10-5 to force Full Tilt Softball
to accept second place from this tournament.
