Peanut Butter & Jelly Time Wins USSSA Class E

Twenty Teams Participated At Inwood Complex In Joliet On July 14th & 15th

Malnar's Tap Turning The Double Play

JOLIET: Peanut Butter Jelly Time from Bolingbrook captured the twenty team USSSA Men's Class E state and national qualifying tournament held at the Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet on July 14th& 15th with a perfect 5-0 record. The champions earned berths to play at both the 2007 Illinois USSSA Men's Class E State Tournament to be held at the Joliet complex in August and the USSSA Great Lakes National Tournament to be held in Rockford over Labor Day Weekend. Tournament runner-up Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoos (4-2) from Romeoville earned both state and national berths also. Third place in this tournament and a state berth went to Dynasty Softball (5-2) from Chicago, with Dan Hauser Construction (3-2) taking home fourth place and a state berth for their efforts in this event. Rounding out the top eight finishers were a fifth place tie between Playoffs Sports Bar & Grill (4-2) from Crest Hill and Seek & Destroy (4-2) from Shorewood with a seventh place tie going to both Adobo Grill (2-2) from Chicago and J.J.'s Pub (2-2) from Ottawa.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time opened play on Saturday afternoon with a first round contest against Seek & Destroy and they posted an 11-3 win onto the bracket board to advance into the second round of tournament action in the winner's bracket. Seek & Destroy had won a play in game against Malnar's Tap from Joliet 19-2 to advance into the regular bracket and a game with Peanut Butter Jelly Time.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time improved to 2-0 on Saturday afternoon when they shut out Playoffs Sports Bar 8-0 to move into Sunday morning's semifinal round of the winner's bracket. Playoffs Sports Bar had defeated the No Showz from Peoria 20-18 in the first round of tournament play to advance into this second round contest with Peanut Butter Jelly Time.
On Sunday morning Peanut Butter Jelly Time and Dynasty Softball squared off with one another to start the day off as Peanut Butter Jelly Time prevailed with a 7-5 win to move into the winner's bracket championship game. Dynasty Softball made it to this semifinal game by opening play with an 8-7 win over Third Base from Shorewood in a play in game to get into the bracket. In the first round of play Dynasty Softball met and defeated Big Easy Bar & Grill / Blair Tanaka, Inc. from Oswego 22-7 before stopping Adobo Grill 11-6 in the second round on Saturday to earn the right to oppose Peanut Butter Jelly Time in a semifinal game on Sunday.
In the tournament undefeated game Peanut Butter Jelly Time and Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo took the field to play one another with the winner being assured of a spot in the tournament's championship game and that team turned out to be Peanut Butter Jelly Time after they posted a 6-4 win onto the bracket board to improve to 4-0 in this tournament.
Now Peanut Butter Jelly Time had to sit and wait until the loser's bracket play was complete and when it was Peanut Butter Jelly Time had a rematch with Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo in the championship game. Peanut Butter Jelly Time kept their eyes on the team goal of winning undefeated in this tournament and they did just that after they posted a 7-5 win onto the bracket board to claim the title and the top prize from this tournament.
Tournament runner-up Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo made it to the championship game by opening play with a first round 5-2 win over Wolf's Sealcoating from Joliet in the first round of tournament play. Wolf's Sealcoating, Inc, had to win a play in game over Xtreme from Aurora 20-5 to advance into this contest against Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo.
In the second round of play on Saturday Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo and J.J.'s Pub were paired against each other with Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo winning 5-2 to advance into Sunday semifinal round of the winner's bracket. J.J.'s Pub and beaten Al McCauley from Rockford 13-10 in the first round of play to advance into this contest against Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo.
On Sunday morning Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo and Dan Hauser Construction took the field to play one another in a semifinal game of the winner's bracket and when the last out was written down in the official scores book the scoreboard read 13-5 in favor of Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo. Dan Hauser Construction made it to this semifinal game of the winner's bracket by defeating Aftershock from Bolingbrook 6-4 in the first round of play before stopping Alfa's IV 8-4 in the second round of tournament action.
In the battle between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten teams Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo came up on the short end of a 6-4 score as they lost to Peanut Butter Jelly Time dropping Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo into the loser's bracket.
Now Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo had to defeat Dynasty Softball in order to earn a second chance at playing Peanut Butter Jelly Time in the finals and they did just that winning 11-9 over Dynasty Softball.
In the championship game Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo came up a little short for the second time playing peanut Butter Jelly Time on this Sunday afternoon as they lost 7-5 forcing Bada Bing / Firehouse Tattoo to accept second place from this tournament.
