Paul Davis Restoration Champions At Byron

Ten Team USSSA Class C/D Equalizer On April 30th

BYRON: Paul Davis Restoration from Rockford went a perfect 4-0 to capture the ten team USSSA Men's Class C/D Equalizer Tournament played at the Byron Sports Complex On April 30th. Fusion (4-2) from Elgin took home second place. Serious Softball (2-2) finished third but was the highest finishing Class D team so they also earned a 2005 USSSA Men's Class D National Berth from this tournament with Lethal Softball/Bridgeport Sports Dome (2-2) taking home fourth place.
Paul Davis Restoration received a first round bye before plying Jeff's Refs/Scudder/Tanel 360 in the second round and posting a 20-13 victory to advance. Jeff's Refs/Scudder/Tanel had advanced to this game by defeating Neighbors Bar & Grill from Rockford 11-9 in the first round of tournament play.
Paul Davis Restoration improved their tournament record to 2-0 with a 13-11 win over Fusion in a semifinal game of the winner's bracket.
In the game between the tournament's last two remaining unbeaten teams Paul Davis Restoration squared off with Serious Softball with Paul Davis Restoration hanging an 18-10 win up onto the bracket board to earn their place in the tournament championship game against whichever team would emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge them in the title contest. Serious Softball made it to the winner's bracket championship game by receiving a first round bye before they defeated Team Complete 15-14 in the second round of play and than they defeated Lethal Softball 20-18 in the semi finals of the winner's bracket to earn their way into the tournaments undefeated game.
After waiting out the completion of the loser's bracket Paul Davis Restoration found that they had a rematch with Fusion in the championship game. Paul Davis Restoration won a close one run game over Fusion 20-19 to become the tournament's champion.

Fusion than met Lethal Softball/Bridgeview Sports Dome and came away with a 21-16 victory to move them into the loser's bracket championship game. Serious Softball having already secured the Class D National berth that they were playing for forfeited their game to Fusion to put the Elgin squad into the tournament's championship game. In a rematch with Paul Davis Restoration Fusion came as close as you can without winning as they dropped a one run ball game to the champions from Rockford 20-19 to finish in second place.
