Five Teams Participate in One Day Tournament At The Brickhouse Complex

URBANA: Paradise Motors (4-1) came back in the 'if necessary game' to defeat the Frozen Ropes (3-2) 11-10 to win the I.S.A. Men's Class D Tournament held at the Brickhouse Complex in Urbana on July 22nd. The champions earned a berth to play at the 2006 I.S.A. Men's Class D World Tournament to be held in August. Area Wide (1-2) took home third place with Chuck's Satellite (1-2) finishing in fourth place.
Paradise Motors opened play with a pigtail or play in game to the bracket against Chuck's Satellite winning 8-3 to advance into the bracket. In the first round of tournament play it was Paradise Motors defeating Area Wide 5-0 to move into the winner's bracket finals. In the game between the tournament's last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Paradise Motors over Frozen Ropes by a final score of 12-9 to give the Paradise Motors ball club the title to the winner's bracket and also assuring them of a spot in the tournament's championship game. Paradise Motors squad had to sit wait and watch as the loser's bracket need to be played out to its conclusion before they would know who their opponent in the championship game would be. When the last out had been recorded into the official scorers book a rematch with the Frozen Ropes awaited Paradise Motor in the title game. The Frozen Ropes came out with blood in their eyes as they took a measure of revenge on Paradise Motors by returning the favor of defeating them making the need to play that 'if necessary game' between these two ball club in order to decide which of them would be the champion of this tournament. In a close game that was decided by the slimmest of margins possible, one run Paradise Motors claimed the title to the tournament by defeating the Frozen Ropes 11-10 in the deciding game.
The Frozen Ropes made it to the championship game by opening play with a first round win over Quad as they defeated them 18-0 to advance into the winner's bracket finals where they met Paradise Motors for the first of three times on this Saturday and lost that first meting 12-9 to drop them into the loser's bracket finals. Frozen Ropes anted another shot at Paradise Motors and in order to get it they j=had to defeat Area Wide and the Frozen Ropes made sure of that by pounding out an impressive 12-5 win to earn a second shot at both Paradise Motors and the tournament title. The Frozen Ropes made good on their second chance as they handed Paradise motors a defeat by the final score of 10-5 to even the tournament at one loss each. In that 'if necessary game' both teams gave it their all and when the final out had been recorded into the book the score board read 11-10 in favor of Paradise Motors sending the Frozen Ropes home with second place from this tournament.
