No Fear Win Tapp City / Crush Spring Classic

Twenty-five Teams Participate AT Clyde Park in Cicero on April 19th

The annual Crush Spring Classic moved to Clyde Park in Cicero with Tapp City serving as the host and twenty-six teams followed to play on Saturday April 19th. No Fear came away with the top cash prize winning five straight games. O.B.I (4-1) took home second place with both Mudville (3-1) and Kapers (3-1) finishing in a tie for third place.
The champions to be opened play with a first round one run win as they edged out Entourage 17-16 to advance in the bracket. No Fear than drew Wallace and posted another narrow victory onto the bracket board as they slipped past Wallace by two runs winning 15-13. Wallace had draw a first round bye in the blind draw format used in this tournament to met No Fear in the second round of play.
No Fear than dispatched the Creators 14-4 to move into a semifinal game of the single elimination tournament. The Creators had stopped Blast 12-11 in the first round of play before beating the Flames 23-8 in the second round to earn the right to play No Fear in the third round of tournament action.
No Fear sent Mudville to the sidelines after beating them 9-3 and with that win earned the right to play for the 2008 Tapp City / Crush Spring Classic title. Mudville made it to this semifinal game by opening tournament play with a 27-19 win over Team Karl in the first round of play. Mudville than stopped the Woodpeckers 17-15 in eight innings to advance into the third round where they met and defeated Heat 9-1 to earn a spot in a semifinal game against No Fear.
In the tournament championship game No Fear and O.B.I went at one another for the top cash prize with No Fear gaining the upper hand and held on to win 16-8 to win the title.
The 2008 Tapp City / Crush Spring Classic tournament runner-up O.B.I. made it to the championship game by opening play with a first round 13-8 win over Aifam to advance into the second round of play. O.B.I. than stopped the host team Crush 11-9 in the second round to continue on their way to the title game. Crush had received a first round bye in this blind draw format to play O.B.I. in the second round of tournament play.
In the third round it was O.B.I. over Jaxx 9-7 sending O.B.I. into a semifinal game of this years Tapp City / Crush Spring Classic. Jaxx made it to the third round of play by opening with a first round 7-1 win over Package before in the second round of play playing and defeating Hype 6-5.
O.B.I. and Kapers squared off with one another in a semifinal game with O.B.I. getting the better of it wining 5-4 to put them into the tournament's championship game against No Fear. Kapers made it to this semifinal game of the tournament by opening play with a first round 11-9 win over the Kings. In the second round Kapers stopped Universal Iron 12-1 before the Kapers met and sent Thunder to the bar for the rest of the day after defeating them 14-13 in the third round of play.
The title game did not go in O.B.I. favor as they were defeated by No Fear 16-6 forcing them to settle for second place at this years Tapp City / Crush Spring Classic Tournament.
Tournament director Mick Balestri said, "No Fear defeated O.B.I. 16 -6 in final game of Tapp City / Crush Spring Classic at Clyde Park drew twenty-five teams and we finally beat Mother Nature. " Balestri went on It was an outstanding job on the fields by Joe Balcaster and his staff. I want to take the time to say my personal 'thank you' to them and also a special 'thank you' to Tapp City for stepping up to the plate and serving as the tournament's host. They did an excellent job and I look forward to working with them again sometime in the future."
