Nemesis Wins ASA 16" National
Berth
Eighteen Teams Participate At
Washington Park In Chicago On June 18th

CHICAGO: Nemesis won the eighteen
team, ASA Sixteen Inch National Qualifier played at Washington Park
in Chicago on June 18th with a perfect 4-0 record. Jelly (3-1) finished
in second place with the Rebels (2-1) and Gladiators (2-1) tying
for third place at this single elimination tournament.
Nemesis opened play with a first round contest against the Lobcocks
and came away with a narrow one run victory 7-6 over them to advance
into the second round of tournament play.
In their second game it was nemesis defeating Steel Gold 6-4 to
move into the semifinal of this national qualifying tournament.
Steel Gold made it to this seconds round contest by defeating the
Newcomers 10-0 in the first round of tournament action.
In their semifinal game of this tournament it was Nemesis defeating
the Gladiators 7-0 to move into the championship game. The Gladiators
made it to this semifinal contest by opening the tournament with
a first round 4-0 win over Wallace before stopping the Mongos 7-5
in the second round of this tournament.
In the championship game of this ASA Qualifier it was Nemesis and
Jelly squaring off with each other and when the last out had been
recorded it was Nemesis leading on the scoreboard 7-0 to claim the
championship and the national berth that goes to the champion.
Nemesis did not supply Illinois Softball Report with any team information,
stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to win the ASA
National Sixteen Inch Qualifying Tournament.
Tournament runner-up Jelly opened play with a first round contest
against the Alpha Giants and posted a 7-0 win up onto the bracket
board to advance into the second round of tournament play. Jelly
and the Grasshoppers were paired off in the second round with Jelly
getting the better of it by a final score of 8-4 to move them into
the tournament's semifinal round of play. The Grasshoppers made
it to this second round game by defeating the Flames 4-3 in the
first round of action.
In their semifinal game Jelly stopped the Rebels 7-0 to move into
the tournament's championship game. The Rebels made it to the semifinal
by opening tournament play with a first round 7-4 win over the Fighting
5th before stopping the Rolling Dice 4-2 in the second round of
play.
The championship game was not kind to the Rebels as they were defeated
by Nemesis 7-0 and with this loss having to settle for second place
at this national qualifying tournament

information, stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to
achieve their second place finish at this tournament.
