BYRON: Neighbors Bar & Grill won the fifteen teams, 2005 Byron Fest, USSSA Women's Class D Tournament with a perfect 4-0 record. The champions earned a berth to play at the 2005 USSSA Great Lakes National Tournament to be held over Labor Day Weekend in Blaine, MN. PCC Power (4-2) from Waukesha, WI finished in second place, Rainbow Separations (5-2) from Belvidere took home third place, O'Brady's/ABP (4-2) from Crystal Lake was fourth with CTS (2-2) from Rockford and Bad Influence (2-2) tying for fifth place at this tournament.
Neighbors Bar 7 Grill received the lone first round bye in this tournament and they opened play with a second round match-up against the Hot Shots from Rockford and posted a 10-6 win onto the bracket board. The Hot Shots had advanced into this second round contest by defeating Rogers Drywall from Rockford 14-3 in the first round of tournament play.
Neighbors Bar & Grill than played their semifinal game on late Saturday afternoon against Bad Influence and they posted another win up onto the bracket board by a final count of 11-5. Bad Influence made it this semifinal game of the winner's by opening tournament play with a first round win over O'Brady's ABP 18-6 and than they defeated Rainbow Separations 6-5 to earn their way into this semifinal showdown with Neighbors Bar & Grill.
On Sunday in the game between the tournament's last two remaining unbeaten teams Neighbors Bar & Grill squared doff with PCC Power in an exciting game with Neighbors Bar & Grill coming out on top in the end by a final score of 15-11. This win assured Neighbors bar & Grill of a spot in the tournament's championship game against whichever team that would win the loser's bracket to earn the right to oppose them in the finals.
That team turned out to be PCC Power and a rematch of the undefeated game was in store in the finals. Neighbors Bar & Grill left no doubt this time around as they won convincingly over PCC Power 24-15 to wrap up their title and earn the berth to play at the 2005 Great Lakes Women's Class D National Tournament.

Tournament runner-up PCC Power opened play with a first round contest against Kerwin Racing and quickly advanced their name on the bracket board after turning in a 12-2 win.
In their second contest of this tournament it was PCC Power and Culver's opposing each other with PCC Power edging out Culver's 4-3 to move into the third round of tournament play on Saturday. Culver's made it to this second round contest by defeating Uniform Tooling from Rockford 20-5 in the first round of tournament play.
In their semifinal game of the winner's bracket it was PCC Power tangling with CTS from Rockford and for the second straight game PCC power posted a one run victory onto the bracket board edging out CTS 6-5. CTS made to this semifinal game by opening play with a first round win over Gia's Friday Women 8-4 and than stopping American Family Insurance 10-4 in the second round of tournament play.
In the game between the last two remaining unbeaten teams PCC Power went down to defeat as they were beaten by Neighbors Bar & Grill 15-11 to send them into the loser's bracket championship game.
Needing to win this game in order to earn a second shot at Neighbors bar & Grill PCC Power and Rainbow Separations went at each other as hard as they possible could with PCC Power scratching out a one run win 12-11 to advance into the championship game.
PCC Power's dream of coming back to double dip unbeaten Neighbors Bar & Grill ended here as Neighbors Bar & Grill handed the ladies from Wisconsin their second loss of the tournament and with that loss a second place finish by the final score of 24-15.
