Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys Wins Worth / USSSA Men's Class D NIT

Twenty-five Teams Entered In Rain Shortened Tournament At Joliet On April 29th

JOLIET: Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys from Bellevue, Kentucky went a perfect 5-0 to win the 25 team 2nd Annual Worth / USSSA Men's Class D N.I.T. played at the Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet on April 29th. As rains started to fall on the afternoon of April 29th the tournament director decided to play all the winner's bracket games down until only one team was left so that in case the forecast that was calling for heavy over night rains that should continue all day Sunday was correct that a winner could be determined from the field of teams that had entered. His foresight in doing this proved to be correct as heavy over night rains continued into Sunday forcing the cancellation of all games not played and with Best Way Frames / Nasty Boys being the only unbeaten team left in this tournament they were declare the champions and also warded the berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class D World Tournament to be held in Canton Michigan in September. Monet (4-1) from Orland Park was second, tying for third place were both Blackhawk Athletic Club (2-1) from Rockford and Sydnis Allstars (3-1) from Homewood. Finishing in a four way tie for fifth place were Sage / Posse Softball Club (2-1) from Crystal Lake, Shirtsandlogos.com (2-1) from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Players Only / J Bears (1-1) from Rockford and TSB Softball (1-1) from Peoria. All of the above final standing was determined by the tournament director deciding to play more games on Saturday (winner's bracket only) until only one team remained unbeaten, in case the rain forecast was true and they would be no softball played on Sunday.
Four more teams were still alive in the loser's bracket and they were award seventh place points; they were Michigan Mush (3-1) from Sterling Height, Michigan, Squeeze Softball (2-1) from Arlington Heights, K.G.B. / 14 West (2-1) from Lockport and HRC Softball (2-1) from Peoria.
Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys opened play with a first round game against the Lynch Mob from Naperville and quickly posted a 14-4 win to advance in the bracket. In their second contest on this Saturday it was Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys defeating Squeeze Softball 6-1 to move into Saturday afternoon scheduled quarterfinal round of this tournament. Squeeze Softball had received a first round bye before playing Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys in the second round of tournament play. Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys stopped Players Only / J Bears 11-5 to advance into Sunday mornings scheduled semifinal round of this tournament. Players Only / J Bears made it to this game by receiving a first round bye before stopping Lumber Company from Joliet 11-5 in the second round of tournament action.
The tournament director had three extra games played on Saturday with Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys winning their semifinal game over Blackhawk Athletic Club 35-17 to put them into the winner's bracket finals. Blackhawk Athletic Club had received a first round bye before beating Aero Softball from Sandwich 15-4 in the second round and than stopping TSB Softball 22-7 in a quarterfinal round game of the winner's bracket to earn a game with Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys in the semifinal of this tournament. In the winner's bracket undefeated game it was Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys over Money 20-7 to give them the title to the winner's bracket. The forecast proved to be correct as all play had to cancelled on Sunday due to the heavy rains and the Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys being the only unbeaten team left in this tournament were declare the champions of the 2nd Annual Worth/USSSA Men's Class D N.I.T. and earned the berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class D World Tournament in Canton Michigan in September plus earning the six hundred dollar travel money that goes with the berth to the world tournament.
Tournament runner up Money opened tournament play with a first round win over J. Denny Masonry / Slick Rick's from Elwood / Bloomington 15-10 in the first round of tournament play. In the second round Money met and defeated Paradise Motor Group / Young Guns from Joliet 11-5. Paradise Motor Group / Young Guns had defeated Lord Stanley's from De Kalb 23-15 in the first round of play to advance into this second round contest with Money. On Saturday afternoon Money and Sage / Posse Softball met with Money winning 10-3. Sage / Posse Softball had to win a first round game over Precision from Lemont 12-6 before getting a bye win over Pottawatomie from Milwaukee, Wisconsin who no showed at this tournament.
Money now playing in the first of those extra game the tournament director decided to play incase the forecast was correct met up Sydnis Allstars and posted a narrow 19-18 win onto the bracket board to advance into the winner's bracket finals. In the battle between the last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Money coming out on the short end of a 20-7 score losing to Best Way Frame / Nasty Boys.
When the forecast proved to be true and all play was cancelled on Sunday, Money on the basis of making it to the winner's bracket championship game before losing was awarded the second place prize package from the 2nd Annual Worth / USSSA Men's Class D N.I.T.
