MOUNT PROSPECT: The Miller Forty-Fives
went a perfect 6 and 0 to win the forty-six team ASA Triple Points
Qualifier played at the Majewski Complex, in Mt Prospect on Saturday
July 7th. The Kings (5-1) finished second and left with the coveted
2007 ASA National Beth for their efforts in this tournament. A third
place tie went to Impact (4-1) and the Flames (4-1). Underage ran
off five straight wins to claim the title to the consolation bracket
defeating Lounge 6-5 in the championship game of the consolation
bracket.
The Miller Forty-fives opened play with a play in game against the
Mavericks winning by a 20-7 score.
In the first round of play it was the Miller Forty-fives over Hype
by a final score of 15-9.
In the second round of tournament play it was the Miller Forty-fives
over the Knights 10-0 to continue their march towards the title.
The Knights had posted a win over the Long Shots in the first round
7-5 to advance into this second round contest against the Miller
Forty-fives.
In the third round of play it was the Miller Forty-fives defeating
Boom 28-9 as they continued their march to the title. Boom had opened
play with a play in game defeating the Gladiators 11-1 before stopping
Universal Iron 6-3 in the first round of play and than beating Cash
11-8 in the third round to earn the right to oppose the Miller Forty-fives
in the fourth round of tournament play.
In their semifinal game of this tournament the Miller Forty-fives
met and defeated Impact 5-2 to earn the right to play in the championship
game. Impact made it to this semifinal game of the winner's bracket
by opening play with a 7-2 win over the Lounge in the first round.
In the second round it was Impact over Tilt 6-4, in the third round
Impact met and defeated Punch 7-4 to advance into the semifinal
where they played the Miller Forty-fives.
The Miller Forty-five won the tournament's championship game over
the Kings 14-3 as they claim the top cash prize from this tournament.
Tournament runner-up the Kings opened play with a 15-3 victory over
R.I.P. in the first round of tournament action.
In the second round of play the Kings won again as they defeated
Formula 2-0. Formula had stopped Underage 7-4 in a play in game
and than defeated the Wicked Squids 14-5 in the first round of play
to advance into this second round contest against the Kings.
In the next round of play the Kings and Pure Smack went toe to toe
with the Kings prevailing by a final score of 5-4 sending them into
the semifinal of this tournament. Pure Smack made it to this game
with the Kings by opening play with a 9-5 win over Entourage in
the first round of tournament action before stopping the Lemons
12-7 in the second round of play to earn Pure Smack a game against
the Kings.
In their semifinal game it was the Kings and the Flames tangling
with one another as the Kings came out on top by a score of 11-5
to earn the Kings the right to play in the championship game against
the Miller Forty-fives. The Flames made it to this semifinal game
by opening play with an 8-1 win over Karl in the first round before
stopping the Shooters 21-9 in the second round and than defeating
Ship of Fools 12-2 in the third round to earn the right to be playing
in a semifinal game of the winner's bracket.
The Kings good day ended here as they were defeated by the Miller
Forty-five in the championship game 14-3 forcing them to settle
for second place but they left as a happy team because they secured
the 2007 ASA Men's 16" National Berth that they came to play
for plus added a little money to their teams kitty.
Underage claimed the consolation bracket by winning five straight
games in a row after losing to Formula in their first game. Along
the way Underage played and defeated the Whalers 14-6 first before
beating Karl 5-4 in the next game. The Young Guns were excused by
Underage next after they posted a 4-3 win onto the bracket board.
March Manufacturing exited next by a score of 13-9 before Underage
finished off the last remaining team in the Lounge 6-5 to win the
Consolation championship game. Lounge made it to the consolation
championship game after losing to Impact 7-2 in the first round
of play. Once in the consolation bracket Lounge met and defeated
the Mavericks 9-7. Next up was a win by Lounge over the Brew Crew
5-2. The Raiders were shown the door next as the Lounge defeated
them 18-11. Universal Iron was excused next after lounge beat them
6-1 to advance into the consolation championship game were Lounge
came out on the short end of a 6-5 score losing to Underage in the
consolation championship game.
