On Saturday night the Bucketheads stopped
the Raiders 14-4 to move on in the winner's bracket. The Raiders
made it to the second round of the winner's bracket by opening with
a 17-7 win over Stella's Angles in a pig tail game on Thursday night
to get into the bracket before they defeated Mavericks 10-6 in the
first round on which was also played on Thursday evening.
Next the Bucketheads squared off with Red Star late on Saturday
night and posted a 7-3 win up onto the bracket board to move into
Sunday's semifinal round of the winner's bracket in this tournament.
Red Star had advanced to play this game by defeating Steel Gold
in the first round on Thursday night 14-10. Red Star than defeated
RIP 12-3 in the second round earlier on Saturday night.
On Sunday the Bucketheads took the field with Flash occupying the
other dugout in this game and when the dust settled back down after
the last out had been recorded it was the Bucketheads emerging with
an 8-6 win over Flash to put them into the undefeated game.
Flash had made it to this game by opening play on Friday night with
an 8-2 win over the Riddlers. On Saturday Flash hooked up with the
Lemonheads and won impressively 12-2 early on Saturday evening.
In a late game on Saturday night Flash flexed their muscles and
defeated the Young Guns 15-3 to move into Sunday semifinal of the
winner's bracket.
The Bucketheads played the Miller 45's a very close game but came
up a little short on the scoreboard losing to the eventual champions
4-1 to drop them into the loser's bracket where they needed to win
a game to earn the right to play the Miller 45's in a rematch. The
Bucketheads took care of business as they defeated Flash for the
second straight time 8-2 to win the loser's bracket and earn the
right to play the Miller 45's for the championship.
The Miller 45's were the better team this day as they sent the Bucketheads
home with the second place prize money after beating them 11-5.
