Midwest Champions At ISA Class
D
Six Teams Participate At Route
130 Complex In Urbana On June 4th

URBANA: Midwest (4-0) captured
the ISA Men's Class D World Qualifier played at the Route 130 Complex
in Urbana on June 4th over a field of six teams. The champions will
be playing at the ISA Men's Class D World Tournament to be held
at to Lexington, SC on August 26th - 28th. Head First (3-2) took
home second place, Pabst (2-2) finished in third place with Collin
Aikman (1-2) taking home fourth place from this tournament.
Midwest opened tournament play with a game against Bru Cru and promptly
put that game away winning by the run rule 18-3.
In their second contest Midwest played Head First and beat them
11-4. Head First had received a first round bye to advance into
this game.
In the game between the last two unbeaten team left in this tournament
Midwest stopped Pabst 20-13 to qualify as one of the team that would
be participating in this championship game with the other team being
whichever team that would win the loser's bracket to oppose them
in the finals.
That team turned out to be Head First so a rematch was in store
in the championship game with Midwest edging out Head First by a
single run 13-12 to win the championship.
Midwest did not provide Illinois Softball Report with any team information,
stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to win this tournament.
Runner up Head First started their day off with a first round bye
before taking on Midwest in their opening contest of this tournament
and losing it to them by a final score of 11-4. Now finding them
selves in the loser's bracket Head First regrouped to defeat Cold
Beer 9-3 to advance.
In their second loser's bracket Head First met and defeated Collin
Aikman 15-6 to move into the loser's bracket finals.
Head First than won the loser's bracket by defeating Pabst 10-8
to earn a second chance at playing Midwest as they also challenged
for the tournament title and the ISA Men's Class D World Tournament
berth that went with that title.
Midwest was up to the challenge at hand by Head First and managed
to score one more run to win the tournament undefeated after posting
a 13-12 win up onto the bracket board in the championship game.

finish in second place at this tournament.
