2009 May Illinois Tournament Results

 

5/2 & 3 The eighteen team USSSA Men’s Class D Elite / D & E Equalizer played at the Byron Sports Complex was won by Byron Bank (5-0) as they stopped Black Hawk Athletic Club (6-2) 16-5 in the title game. Photo’s in Illinois Softball Report’s ‘Photo Album’.

5/2 Six teams participated in the ASA Men’s Class C NIT at Melas Fields in Arlington Heights which was won by Women’s Touch Painting (5-1) from Kenos, WI over runner up Precision (3-2) as they doubled-dipped them 23-15 & 15-7 to claim the title and the berth.

5/1 - 3 Gumby Open & Lower at Four Season's Complex in Springfield was postponed due to weather.

5/2 ASA Sixteen Inch National Qualifier at Majewski Complex, in Mt Prospect was postponed due to weather & field conditions

5/9 ASA Sixteen Inch National Qualifier played at the Alsip Park District fields in Alsip with Heat (3-0) and Avalanche (4-0) each making it to the title game before agreeing to split the top prize of the twenty-nine team single elimination event. Team 23 (3-1) and Roadrunners (3-1) finished in a tie for third lace.

5/9 ISA Men’s Class C/D NIT played at Melas Fields in Arlington Heights saw KBI (3-0) winning the ISA Men’s Class D World Berth with Precision (4-1) claiming the ISA Men’s Class C World Berth of this eight team one day tournament. Since each team was being awarded a world tournament berth the championship game was not played between these two ball clubs.

5/9 - Seven team one day USSSA Men’s Class C Qualifier played at Turner’s Club in Aurora was won by Fury Softball who came out of the loser’s bracket to double dip runner-up Redemption. Photo’s in Illinois Softball Report’s ‘Photo Album’.

5/9 - USSSA Men’s Class D Qualifier played at the Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet was won by the Shockers / Grapevine / Ken’s Beverage (5-0) from Romeoville over Extreme - Polekatz (4-2) from Chicago 11-6 in the championship game of the eleven team event.

5/9 ISA Men’s Class E Qualifier played at Alpha Park in Bartonville was won by Gabberts / Ogborn ((5-1) as they double dipped tournament runner-up Kelly Glass (2-2) 14-11 and 21-2 to claim the top prize at this six team event.

5/9 - USSSA Men’s Class E Qualifier was played at the Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet with Guerilla Graffix (6-1) from Rockford as they double dipped Bada Bing / Marquette Bank (4-2) from Romeoville 11-6 & 6-5 to win the sixteen team event.

5/16 - USSSA Men's Class D Qualifier was played at Turner Club in Aurora with Kouhr's 4-0 winning this event over runner up Xtreme / Polekatz (4-2) with VIP (3-2) finishing in third place and Seco (2-2) taking home fourth place. Photo’s in Illinois Softball Report’s ‘Photo Album’.

5/16 & 17 - USSSA Men's Class D Qualifier was played at Forest Hills Diamonds in Rockford with the Roaddawgs (4-0O taking home the title over a field of eleven teams. Players Only (3-2) finished in second place with Triple Play / LT's Bar & Grill (2-2) taking home third place and Neighbors Bar & Grill (2-2) finishing in fourth place. 5/16 & 17 - USSSA Women's Class C / D Elite Qualifier was played at Forest Hills Diamonds in Rockford with Team BP running the table on the field of six team going (7-) to claim the title. Kaiser's Pizza / Demarini (5-3) finished in second place with Double Vision (2-5) taking home third place and PCC Power (4-2) finishing in fourth place.

5/23 & 24 - USSSA Men's Class D NIT was played at the Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet with twenty-eight teams participating. Commission (6-1) win the berth to play at the 2009 USSSA Men's Class D World Tournament at Liberty Park in Sterling Heights, MI on September 24th - 27. The Peoria Outlaws (9-2) took home second place with Horn's tree Service (4-2) finishing in third place and Shenanigans (4-2) exiting in fourth place. 5/23 & 24 - USSSA Men's Class E National Qualifier was played at the Aurora Turner Club with Extreme / Polekatz (5-1) winning the twelve team event. Klub's (4-2) finished in second place with Wasted Talent (4-2) taking home third place and Playoffs Sports Bar & Grill (3-2) finishing in fourth place.

5/23 & 24 - USSSA Men's Class E National Qualifier was held at Forest Hills Diamonds in Rockford with the Diamond Kings (5-0) waking off with the title. Captains Pub (8-2) made a long run to finish in second place with Shooter's / Oscar's Bar & Grill (3-2) taking home third place and Gizmo's Sports Card (3-2) leaving with fourth place.

5/23 & 24 - USSSA Women's Class C / D Elite Qualifier was played at the Forest Hills Diamonds in Rockford with Settimi-Fetters Roofing going a perfect 4-0 to win the title. Team BP (3-3) finished in second place with True Value (2-2) finishing in third place and PM Pub / Pitch;s (2-2) taking home fourth place.

5/23 & 24 - USSSA Men's Class D/E Qualifier was played at the Byron Sports Complex in Byron with eleven teams participating. Redrum Softball / Uptown Tap went 6-1 to claim the title over runner-up Extreme Polekatz (3-2). Neighbors Bar & Grill (3-2) finished in third place with Powerhouse Softball (2-2) taking home fourth place.

5/30 - USSSA Men's Class C Qualifier was played at St. Charles East Side Complex with thirteen teams participating and the Dirtbags (5-0 walking away with the title. Creative Design (5-2) finished in second place with Shenanigans (2-2) taking third and Fury Softball (3-2) finishing in fourth place. Photo’s in Illinois Softball Report’s ‘Photo Album’.

5/30 & 31 - ISA Men's Class E NIT was won by Kelly Glass (4-0) and was played at the Wendl's Complex in Urbana with eight teams participating. Gabberts (3-2) took home second place with Hit Kings (3-2) finishing in third place with the Swingers (2-2) taking fourth.

5/28-31 - ASA Sixteen Inch Major 'Tournament of Champions' was held at Mayfield Park in Westchester with Windy City (6-1)coming back through the loser's bracket to double dip Flashback (4-1) to win the title. Iron (4-2) took home third place with the Young Guns (6-2) finishing in fourth at this twenty four team event. Photo’s in Illinois Softball Report’s ‘Photo Album’.
