ALSIP: Seventeen teams gathered to
play at the ASA Men's Sixteen Inch National Qualifier played at
the Alsip Park District's Softball Complex in Alsip on May 14th
with March Manufacturing (4-0) wining the coveted national berth
from this tournament. Steel Gold (3-1) took home second place with
Jynx (3-1) and the Outsiders (2-1) finishing in a tie for third
place.
March Manufacturing opened play with a 6-2 win over Unknown Players
in the first round of tournament play. March won their second round
game when the defeated the Rebels 4-0. The Rebels made it to the
second round by posting a 6-4 win over the Newcomers in the first
round of tournament play.
March won their semi-final game over Out There 4-3 to move into
the tournament's championship game. Out There made it to the semi-finals
by stopping Ten Deep 8-6 in the first round of play and than defeating
the Fighting 5th 6-2 in the second round of tournament action.
The championship game was another one run win by March as they slipped
past Steel Gold 9-8 to win the title and the berth to play at the
2005 ASA Sixteen Inch National Tournament.
March Manufacturing did not provide Illinois Softball Report with

able to win this qualifying tournament.
Steel Gold made it to the championship game by opening play with
a first round 7-0 win over the Dogg Pound. In their second contest
of this tournament Steel Gold met and defeated Pure Smack 11-1.
Pure Smack had advanced to the second round by posting a 6-3 win
over Hype in the first round of play.
In their semifinal game of the tournament Steel Gold took on Jynx
and defeated them 80-5 to move into the championship game. Jynx
made it to the semi-finals of this tournament by opening play with
a first round win over the Outlaws 6-4. In their second game the
Jynx met and defeated the Young Guns by a single run 9-8 to move
into the semifinal of this tournament.
The championship game went to March over Steel Gold as the Steel
Gold ball club was forced to settle for second place from this national
qualifying tournament.
