Lynch Mob Wins USSSA Class D Qualifier

of USSSA Class D In Sugar Grove On April 8th
SUGAR GROVE: The Lynch Mob from
Naperville won the USSSA Men's Class D Great lakes National Tournament
Qualifier held at the Sugar Grove Sports Complex in Sugar Grove
over a field of ten teams that participated in this tournament.
The champions earned a berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class
D Great Lakes National Tournament to be held over Labor Day Weekend
in Sterling Heights, MI. Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors bar &
Grill (4-2) from Rockford finished in second place, Hell Yeah (3-2)
from Schaumburg was third and Tidal Wave (2-2) from Elgin took home
fourth place from this tournament.
The Lynch Mob opened play with a first round contest against Squeeze
Softball from Arlington Heights and posted an impressive 15-1 win
onto the bracket board to advance into the second round of tournament
play in the winner's bracket. The Lynch Mob and Maxwell Consulting
/ Neighbors Bar & Grill hooked up with each other in a semifinal
game of the winner's bracket with the Lynch Mob winning 12-8 to
put them into the winner's bracket finals. In the game that featured
the last two remaining unbeaten teams in this tournament it were
the Lynch Mob and Hell Yeah locking up with each other with the
Lynch Mob winning by a final score of 6-2. Hell Yeah made it to
the winner's bracket championship game by opening play with a 12-4
win over Joe's On Weed Street / Storm from Chicago in a play in
game to the bracket. In the first round of tournament play it was
Hell Yeah defeating Kro-Hop from St Charles 14-8 before Hell Yeah
stopped Tidal Wave 8-2 in a semifinal game of the winner's bracket
to earn their way into the undefeated game of the tournament.
Now the Lynch Mob had to sit and wait until the loser's bracket
was completed before knowing who they would be playing in the title
game and when the loser's bracket was complete a rematch with Maxwell
Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill was on tap next for the Lynch
Mob. Even with the time off to sit on a cool April day the Lynch
Mob kept their focus as a team and came out ready to play as they
complete their undefeated run to the title at this tournament turning
aside Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill by a final
score of 16-13 to win the tournament.
Tournament runner up Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill
opened tournament action with a first round game against Whitey's
from Oswego and posted a 12-5 win onto the bracket board to advance
in the tournament. Whitey's had to win a play in game over Assault
13-9 from St Charles to earn the right to play Maxwell Consulting
/ Neighbors Bar & Grill in the first round of tournament play.
Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill dropped their next
game to the eventual champions Lynch Mob by a 12-8 final score.
Now playing in the loser's bracket Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors
Bar & Grill eliminated Kro-Hop 14-12 next up was a date with
Tidal Wave as Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill continued
to gain momentum winning 14-6. Now only Hell Yeah stood between
Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill and a rematch with
unbeaten Lynch Mob. Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill
took care of business against Hell Yeah winning a close game 13-12
to earn a second chance at the Lynch Mob. But this was as close
as Maxwell Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill would get as the
Lynch Mob finished them off by a final score of 16-13 to send Maxwell
Consulting / Neighbors Bar & Grill back to Rockford with a second
place finish from this tournament.
