Kline Construction Champions Of USSSA Class D In Joliet

JOLIET: Kline Construction (4-0) traveled to Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet on August 6th & 7th to play at the USSSA Men's Class D Last Chance National Qualifier and hit the jackpot by going undefeated to win the berth to play at Blaine, Minnesota over Labor Day Weekend. Jolt n Joe's Reapers (4-2) from Crete finished in second place, C & C Plumbing (4-2) from Rochelle was third, Joe's On Weed Street/Storm (3-2) from Chicago took home fourth place with a fifth place tie going to Hot Shots (1-2) from Warrenville and Ice House Dogs (1-2) from Chicago.
The champions to be opened tournament play with a first round bye in the twelve team tournament before taking on Wilderness Falls and defeating them 13-3 in the second round of tournament action. Wilderness falls had advanced into this second round contest with Kline Construction by defeating Yard Dogs from Plano 7-0 in the first round when the Yard Dogs failed to show up to play.
In a semifinal game of the winner's bracket played on Saturday afternoon Kline Construction tangled with Joe's On Weed Street/Storm and again they hung up an impressive win onto the bracket board sending Joe's On Weed Street/Storm to the loser's bracket by a final score of 10-2. Joe's On Weed Street/Storm made it to this game by opening the tournament with a first round 12-11 win over Hell Yea from Arlington Heights. In the second round Joe's On Weed Street/Storm met and defeated C & C Plumbing 6-3 to move into the semifinal round of this tournament and a match up with Kline Construction.
On Sunday Kline Construction met Jolt n Joe's Reapers in the tournaments undefeated game and they posted their third straight win up onto the bracket board defeating their Crete based opponent 9-5 to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament. Kline Construction was now able to sit back and watch as they loser's bracket was played out to it's conclusion in order to determine which of the remaining teams would web their opponent in the championship game. When the last out in the loser's bracket had been recorded into the official scorers book a rematch with Jolt n Joe's Reapers would be on tap for Kline Construction in the championship game.
Kline Construction completed their undefeated run to the title at this tournament by turning aside Jolt n Joe's Reapers in the finals 11-7 to claim the paid berth to play in Minnesota over Labor day Weekend.

Runner up Jolt n Joe's Reapers opened tournament play with a first round game against Heroes & Legends Joliet from Joliet in the first round and they posted a narrow 10-9 victory onto the bracket board to advance into the second round of tournament play.
In the second round of tournament play Jolt n Joe's Reapers tangled with the Hot Shots and won a one run ball game over them 8-7 to move into the third round of play with a perfect 2-0 record.
The Hot shots had received a first round bye to move into this second round contest with the Jolt n Joe's Reapers ball club.
In their semifinal game of this tournament Jolt n Joe's Reapers and the Ice House Dogs went toe to toe with Jolt n Joe's Reapers wining another one run ball game 6-5 over the Ice House Dogs to advance into Sunday's winner's bracket finals. The Ice House Dogs made it to this semifinal game by opening the tournament with a first round bye before stopping Jolt-N-Joes from Crete 10-5 in the second round to move into this semifinal game with Jolt n Joe's Reapers.
On Sunday in the game between the last two remaining unbeaten team Jolt n Joe's Reapers tangled with Kline Construction and came out on the short end of a 9-5 score to drop them into the loser's bracket finals.
Jolt n Joe's Reapers responded in the loser's bracket finals with a strong effort as they eliminated C & C Plumbing 7-5 to earn a second chance to both Kline Construction and the championship of this tournament.
This was as close as Jolt n Joe's Reapers was going to get this day as Kline Construction held serve in the finals defeating Jolt n Joe's Reapers 11-7 to sending them to the parking lot to pack their cars for the trip back home to Crete with second place from this tournament.
