Six Teams, One Day Event At Inwood
Sports Complex In Joliet On May 28th

JOLIET: K.G.B./Paradise Bay
(4-0) from Lockport won the USSSA Men's Class C National Qualifier
played at the Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet on May 28th over a
field of six teams. Money (3-2) from Country Club Hills finished
in second place but received (K.G.B./Paradise Bay had already earned
a National Berth) the berth to play at the USSSA Men's Class C Great
Lakes national Tournament over Labor Day Weekend to be held at the
Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet. Primetime Softball (2-2) from Joliet
finished in third place with the Lumber Company (1-2) from Joliet
taking home fourth place.
K.G.B./Paradise Bay opened play with a run rule win over Aurora
Turner Club in their opening game of this tournament. K.G.B./Paradise
Bay improved to 2-0 with a 15-12 win over Lethal Softball/Bridgeview
Sports Dome from Bridgeview in the second round of play. Lethal
Softball/Bridgeview Sports Dome had received a first round bye in
this tournament to get to this second round game against K.G.B./Paradise
Bay.
In the winner's bracket finals it was K.G.B./Paradise Bay against
Money with the Lockport ball club posting a 17-12 win up onto the
bracket board to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament.
K.G.B./Paradise Bay now sat back and watched as the loser's bracket
was played out to its conclusion before they would know which of
the remaining teams would be their opponent in the championship
game. When the play in the loser's bracket was over it was a rematch
against Money that awaited K.G.B./Paradise Bay in the title contest.
In another close game K.G.B./Paradise Bay came out on top winning
13-10 to claim the first place prize money from this tournament.
K.G.B./Paradise Bay did not supply Illinois Softball Report with
any team information, stats, highlights or quote son how they were
able to win this tournament.
Tournament runner-up Money opened play with a 16-5 win over the
Lumber Company in the first round of tournament play. Game number
two was a come from behind 20-17 win over Primetime Softball. Primetime
Softball had received a first round bye in this six team event to
advance into this game against the money ball club.
In the undefeated game Money suffered a 17-12 loss to K.G.B./Paradise
Bay dropping them into the loser's bracket where they had a rematch
with Primetime Softball in the game to determine which of these
two teams would be advancing into the finals against unbeaten K.G.B./Paradise
Bay. Money win a squeaker over Primetime Softball 9-8 to earn them
the right t challenge K.G.B./Paradise Bay in the title game.
The championship game went to K.G.B./Paradise Bay 13-10 over Money
who had to settle for second place from this tournament but they
did get the National Berth that they wanted to earn when they entered
this tournament.
Money did not provide Illinois Softball Report with any team information,
stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to finish in second
