Ken's Beverage Wins USSSA Class C In Aurora

Stops Yep! Softball In The 'If Necessary Game' To Win Title

AURORA: Ken's Beverage (3-1) from Joliet bounced back in the 'if necessary game to defeated Yep! Softball (3-2) from Burbank 16-1 to earn a little revenge for the loss they suffered to Yep! Softball 14-7 in the first championship game. The champion's Ken's Beverage earned a paid berth to play at the 2007 USSSA Men's Class C Great Lakes national Tournament to be held over Labor Day Weekend in Ft. Knox, KY. Yep! Softball earned a paid state berth to play at the 2007 Illinois USSA Men's sate tournament with third place finisher Huntley Realty / Posse (2-2) from Crystal Lake earned an unpaid state tournament berth.
Ken's Beverage received a first round bye before taking on and defeating Howard Sportswear from Elgin 14-4 to advance them into the winner's bracket finals. Howard Sportswear had won a first round game over CA Buckner from Aurora 22-12 to advance into a second round showdown with ken's Beverage.
In the winner's bracket undefeated game Ken's Beverage and Yep! Softball tangled in the first of three meeting on this Saturday afternoon with Ken's Beverage getting the better of it in this first contest winning 22-12.
Ken's Beverage now had to sit back and wait as the loser's bracket was played out to its conclusion before know who their opponent would be in the championship game. That opponent turned out to be a rematch with Yep! Softball.
Yep! Softball extracted a measure of revenge handing Ken's Beverage a 14-7 loss in the first championship game force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two squads in order to determine which team would be the tournament champion.
In the deciding game it was Ken's Beverage prevailing over Yep! Softball impressively winning 16-1 to take home the first place prize page from this tournament.
Tournament runner-up Yep! Softball also received a first round bye before playing and defeating the Hot Shots from Warrenville 21-16 in the second round of play to advance into the winner's bracket finals. The Hot Shots had opened play in this tournament with an 8-5 win over Huntley Realty /Posse in the first round of play to earn the right to play Yep! Softball in the second round of tournament action.
Yep! Softball tasted defeat in the undefeated game as they fell to Ken's Beverage 22-12 dropping them into the loser's bracket championship game where they needed a victory to earn a second chance at Ken's Beverage and the tournament title.
Yep! Softball did what was required of them sending home Huntley Realty / Posse 15-11 to win the loser's bracket and give them a second change at playing unbeaten Ken's Beverage.
Yep! Softball rose to the occasion and defeated Ken's Beverage 14-7 to force the need to have the extra game played between these two ball clubs in order to determine which of them would wear the crown of champion of this tournament. That extra kind was not kind to Yep! Softball as they were defeated by Ken's Beverage 16-1 and with that loss being forced to accept the second place prize package from this tournament.
