One Day, Five Teams At Melas Field In Arlington Heights On July 28th

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS: J Denny (3-1) won the five team ASA Men's Class C/D Tournament played at Melas Fields in Arlington Heights on July 28th by defeating the Voodoo Lounge (4-2) 9-4 in the 'if necessary ' game to claim their title. Drunken Monkeys (1-2) finished in third place with Trainwreck (1-2) taking home fourth place from this event.
J Denny opened play with a first round game against Trainwreck as they managed to slip past them by a single run winning 9-8. Trainwreck has to win a play in game over Voodoo Lounge 21-7 to advance into the regular bracket and a game against J Denny.
Now J Denny was set to play the Drunken Monkeys in the winner's bracket finals and J Denny posted another win onto the bracket board (no score was reported) to win the winner's bracket.
J Denny need to sit and wait as the loser's bracket was played out to its conclusion before knowing which of the teams would come out of that bracket to challenge them in the championship game. When the final play of the loser's bracket was completed, Voodoo Lounge was the tem still standing and they would oppose J Denny in the championship game of this tournament.
Voodoo Lounge looked to be a team on a mission as they handed J Denny a loss 13-11 to even the tournament at one loss each and with this win forced the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two ball club in order to determine which of them would wear the crown of champion home from this tournament.
J Denny found a way to bounce back in the extra game and they posted a 9-4 win over the Voodoo Lounge to lay claim to the title of this Tournament.
Tournament runner-up Voodoo Lounge opened play in this tournament with a play in game to get into the bracket and they did not play well in this game losing to Trainwreck 21-7 dropping them into the loser's bracket from the get go of this tournament.
Now playing with their backs against the wall Voodoo Lounge met Aces high in their first loser's bracket game and promptly sent them home after beating the Aces High 17-5. A rematch with Trainwreck was next on the agenda fro the Voodoo Lounge and they took that preverbal pound of flesh sending Trainwreck home after beating them 20-7.
Now only the Drunken Monkeys stood between Voodoo Lounge and the chance to play for the tournament title as the Voodoo Lounge used a strong defensive team effort limiting the Drunken Moneys to only two runs as they won 8-2 to earn the right to play unbeaten J Denny in the championship game of this tournament.
Voodoo Lounge was on a roll now and they continued their roll as they evened this tournament at one loss each by defeating J Denny 13-11 and with that win forced the need to have the 'if necessary game' played in order to determine which of then would be the champion.
The extra game did not break in favor of Voodoo Lounge as they came up on the short end of a 9-4 final score and with that loss the Voodoo Lounge was forced to accept second place from this tournament.
