Ipsen International Wins 23rd
Annual Worth/USSSA
Eight Teams Participate At Forest
Hills Diamonds In Rockford On Aug. 13 & 14

Ispen International
Champions of 23rd Annaul Worth/USSSA Women's Class C N.I.T.
ROCKFORD: Ispen International
(4-1) from Belvidere won the 23rd Annual Women's Worth/USSSA Class
C N.I.T. played at Forest Hills Diamonds in Rockford on August 13th
& 14th.
Prime Time (5-3) from Charleston took home second place as the Worth/Northern
Diamonds (2-2) from Mc Henry finished in third place and Rosati's
Of Wheaton (3-2) from Warrenville taking home fourth place from
this National Invitational Tournament.
The champions to be Ispen International opened tournament play with
an impressive 9-1 win over Rosati's Of Wheaton in their first game
of this eight team event.
In the second round of play it was Ispen International slipping
past Add-A-Bath/Demarini from Gurnee in a very close game 6-5. Add-A-Bath/Demarini
made it to the second round of the winner's bracket by opening play
with a 16-6 win over Prime Time in the first round of action.
In the winner's bracket finals on Saturday afternoon Ispen International
and Worth/Northern Diamonds wrestled back and forth for the spot
in the finals that automatically goes to the winner with Ispen International
edging out Worth/Northern Diamonds by a final score of 5-4. The
ladies playing for Worth/Northern Diamonds made it to this game
by opening play with a 7-0 forfeit win over Vertex who failed to
show up at game time. In the second round the Worth/Northern Diamonds
ball club won a wild back and forth high scoring game over Blackhawk
Athletic Club 15-14 to move into the winner's bracket finals.
On Sunday Ispen International and Prime Time tangled with Prime
Time handing Ispen International a loss 16-11 to force the need
to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two ball clubs
in order to determine which of them would be the champion.
Ispen International got things going in this game and cruised to
an impressive 12-2 win to claim the title to the 23rd Annual Worth/USSSA
Women's Class C N.I.T.
Ispen did not provide Illinois Softball Report with any team information,
stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to win this tournament.
Prime Time took the long way around to get to the finals but they
got there just the same by taking advantage of the three game minimum
guarantee that this tournament format offered. Prime Time dropped
their opening two games before getting everything going as they
were defeated by Add-A-Bath/Demarini 16-6 in the first round of
play. This loss dropped them into the loser's bracket where they
were defeated by Rosati's Of Wheaton 5-2 in their second game. Now
with their backs against the wall the ladies from Charleston started
their comeback by sending home High Voltage from St Charles after
defeating them 11-2.
In their last contest on Saturday Prime Time sent Add-A-Bath/Demarini
packing for home after defeating them 17-14 to move into Sunday
still alive in this tournament.
On Sunday morning it was Prime Time and Rosati's Of Wheaton tangling
with each other and this time Prime time turned the tables on the
ladies from Warrenville beating them in a close game 9-8 to advance
into the loser's bracket finals of this tournament.
Prime Time and Worth/Northern Diamonds now went toe to toe with
the ladies playing out of Charleston winning 8-4 to earn them the
right to play in the tournament's championship game.
It is always nice to come into a tournament game as a team on a
roll and that would accurately describe Prime Time a in this upcoming
game against unbeaten Ispen International. Prime Time used their
advantage to post another win onto the bracket board as they defeated
Ispen International 16-11 to force the need to have the 'if necessary
game' played between these two ball clubs in order to determine
which of them would wear the crown as the champion of the23rd Annual
Worth/USSSA Women's Class C NIT.
In that extra game Prime Time just could not get it done as they
fell to Ispen International by a final score of 12-2 and with that
loss they had to settle for second place from this tournament.
Prime Time did not supply Illinois Softball Report with any team
information, stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to
achieve their second place finish at this tournament.
