EUREKA: Head 1st (4-1) won the
five team ISA Men's Class E qualifying tournament held at Eureka
Lake Park in Eureka on April 30th by defeating Floyd Dailey (3-2)
16-13 in the 'if necessary game' to win the title. Brass Rail (1-2)
took home third place.
The champions to be opened play with a play in game in this tournament
and they defeated Outpost 16-15 to move into the second round of
play. IN their second game of this qualifying tournament Head 1st
squared off with the Brass Rail and posted a 15-5 win up onto the
bracket board to improve their record to 2-0 in this tournament.
In the winner's bracket finals Head 1st and Floyd Dailey matched
up for the first of three head to head games on this Saturday afternoon
with Head 1st claiming the opener 17-7 of Floyd Dailey.
Head 1st now was able to sit back and wait as the loser's bracket
need to be played out to its conclusion before they would find out
which of the other remaining teams would be their challenger in
the championship game. When the final out was record in the loser's
bracket a rematch with Floyd Dailey awaited Head1st in the title
show down. Floyd Dailey came out looking to gain a measure of revenge
an did just that as they defeated previously unbeaten Head 1st 18-11
to force the need to play the extra game between this two ball club
to decide who would be the champion of this tournament. That extra
game as a close game but when it was over Head 1st was leading on
the scoreboard 16-13 to complete their mission of winning this tournament.

Runner up Floyd Dailey opened tournament play with an impressive
15-4 win over Sauder Sports in their first game of this tournament.
Floyd Daily now was matched up against Head 1st in the winner's
bracket championship game where they were forced to accept a 17-7
defeat. This loss dropped them down into the loser's bracket where
they met the Brass Rail and defeated them 15-12 to win the loser's
bracket and earn a second shot at both Head 1st and the tournament
title. Floyd Daily came out with revenge on their minds for the
loss that they had suffered at the hands of Head 1st earlier in
the day and that is exactly what they did as they defeated Head
1st 18-11 forcing the need to play the extra game in order to determine
which of these two teams would win this tournament. That extra game
went to Head 1st as Floyd Daily was forced to accept second place
after suffering a 16-13 loss to Head 1st in the deciding game of
the tournament.
