Hatalla Flooring Wins ASA Class
D State
Sixty-six Teams Particpate at
Dodds Complex In Champaign

CHAMPAIGN: Hatalla Flooring
(7-1) bounced back in the 'if necessary game' to defeat Brickstone
(7-2) 11-8 to win the 2007 Illinois ASA Men's Class D State championship.
Brickstone had upended the previously undefeated Hatalla Flooring
10-3 in the first championship game to force the need to have the
extra game played between these two squads with the winner getting
the bonus of this years state title. K & K Metal Works (6-2)
finished in third place with Burton Drywall (8-2) taking home fourth
place. Rounding out the top ten finishers were both Dave's Pizza
(6-2) and MSR-IL, Incorporated (4-2) finishing in a tie for fifth
place, the River Dogs (6-2) and Swinging Dixxx (5-2) finishing in
a tie for seventh place and a four way tie for ninth place took
place between California Shine (3-2), Davis Insurance (3-2), Colony
Inn (3-2) and QMF (3-2). The 2007 ASA Men's Class D State Tournament
was held at the Dodds Fields Complex in Champaign on July 27th through
29th.
Hatalla Flooring opened play on Friday evening with a 13-6 win over
B & B Homes in the first round of tournament action.
In their second game of this tournament Hatalla Flooring met and
defeated the Diamond Kings 19-6 on Saturday morning. The Diamond
Kings had beaten Doc's 20-5 on Friday evening to advance into this
second round contest against Hatalla Flooring.
Playing in the third round of the winner's bracket on Saturday afternoon
Hatalla Flooring was matched up against The Side Bar with Hatalla
Flooring posting a 3-1 win onto the bracket board to advance into
Saturday evenings fourth round of the winner's bracket. The Side
Bar made it to this game against Hatalla Flooring by opening play
on Friday evening with a 14-4 win over Brown Tire and Auto / Rage
and than defeating Auto Center Wildcats 6-2 on Saturday afternoon
to advance into this third round contest against Hatalla Flooring.
On Saturday evening Hatalla Flooring and Colony Inn squared off
with one another as Hatalla Flooring was hitting on all cylinders
winning big 17-1 to advance into Sunday mornings semifinal round
of the winner's bracket. Colony Inn made it to the fourth round
by opening play on Friday night with a first round victory over
Cheely Chiropractic 10-3. Early on Saturday afternoon the Colony
Inn slipped past Office 2 / Titans 5-4, before stopping the Titans
10-9 in the third round of play in the winner's bracket on Saturday
afternoon.
On Sunday morn with only four team left alive in the winner's bracket
of this sixty-six team event Hatalla Flooring and MSR-IL, Incorporated
were set to do battle with the winner gaining one of the two spots
in the winner's bracket undefeated game. That spot went to Hatalla
Flooring as they prevailed by a final score of 18-7 over MSR-IL,
Incorporated. MSR-IL, Incorporated made it to this semifinal game
of the winner's bracket by opening play on Friday night with a first
round win over Shelby Electric Company 18-5. On Saturday MSR-IL,
Incorporated posted three wins in three tries onto the bracket board
as they sent 02 / Precision Maintenance to the losers bracket after
beating them 11-4 in the second round of tournament play. Advocare
fell to 02 / Precision Maintenance in the third round on Saturday
afternoon by a final score of 17-3 and than on Saturday evening
it was 02 / Precision Maintenance over QMF 11-9 to earn 02 / Precision
Maintenance the right to play in a semifinal game against Hatalla
Flooring.
Now only two teams were undefeated and they were set to take the
field to play one another straight up. Hatalla Flooring got the
better of it as they upended Brickstone 13-9 to win the winner's
bracket of the 2007 ASA Men's Class D State Tournament.
Now Hatalla Flooring had to wait until the loser's bracket was played
out to its conclusion before they would know which team would survive
to challenge them in the championship game and when that last out
had been recorded into the officials scorers book a rematch with
Brickstone was on tap for Hatalla Flooring in the tournament's championship
game.
