Gimmie Dat Softball Wins ASA C State

Thirty-eight Teams Participate At Rock Island Complex On Aug 11 - 13

ROCK ISLAND: Gimmie Dat Softball (6-0) ran the table on the field of thirty-eight teams to win the 2006 ASA Men's Class C State Tournament held at the Rock Island Sports Complex in Rock Island on August 11th through 13th. Gimmie Dat Softball had previously won both the 2004 and the 2005 ASA Men's Class D State titles so this one made it three ASA Illinois Men's State Titles in a row for the Bradley area based ball club. Gimmie Dat Softball club won both of the individual awards that were presented at this state tournament with John 'Jay' Kvasnickda being named as the tourament's 'Most Valuable Player' and Bill Slvis being named as the tournaments 'Most Valuable Pitcher'. Pub II / Pal (6-2) from Bloomington finished in second place with Quad City Heat (4-2) taking home third place and Salty Dawgs (3-2) finishing in fourth place. Rounding out the top eight were both TS Financial (5-2) and Keith & Company (5-2) finishing in a tie for fifth place as both Well Hung Drywall ( 4-2) and Slick Rick's / J. Denny Masonry ( 4-2) finishing in a tie for seventh place at this years state tournament.
Gimmie Dat Softball opened play on Friday night with a play in game where they met and defeated Macomb # 5 Masons 11-6 to advance into the regular bracket. On Saturday morning Gimmie Dat Softball took on Casey's Tavern and squeaked out a narrow 14-13 to advance into the second round of tournament action in the winner's bracket. In the early afternoon of Saturday Gimmie Dat Softball and Slick Rick's / J. Denny Masonry went at one another with Gimmie Dat Softball winning 7-5 to advance into the third round to be played in the middle of the afternoon. Slick Rick's / J. Denny Masonry had beaten Hey Bryans on Friday night 19-18 to advance into this second round contest with Gimmie Dat Softball.
In a quarterfinal game of the winner's bracket on Saturday afternoon Gimmie Dat Softball and Joe's Place tangled with each other as Gimmie Dat Softball came out on top in this game winning 14-10 to put them into Sunday's semifinal round of the winner's bracket. Joe's Place made it to this game by opening play on Friday night with a 24-23 win over TS Financial in the first round of play before stopping the Lakota Tribe 16-14 in the second round of tournament action to advance into this third round contest with Gimmie Dat Softball.
ON Sunday morning with only four teams still unbeaten Gimmie Dat Softball and Pub II / Pal went toe to toe with Gimmie Dat Softball winning 22-16 to put them into the winner's bracket undefeated game.
Now only two teams remained unbeaten and Gimmie Dat Softball took the field to challenge the Quad City Heat for the title to the winner's bracket. Gimmie Dat Softball took care of business winning 12-6. This win assured Gimmie Dat Softball of a spot in the state championship game against whichever team that emerged from the loser's bracket to earn the right to be their opposition in the title game. Quad City Heat made it to the winner's bracket championship game by opening play against Kuncle Deep on Friday night as they posted a22-6 win up onto the bracket board to advance in the tournament. In the second round of play on Saturday morning Quad City Heat took on and defeated Scooters Bar & Grill 20-17 to advance into Saturday afternoon's third round of tournament play. Quad City Heat met and defeated First Community Title 7-1.
On Sunday morning playing in a semifinal game of the winner's bracket it was Quad City Heat over the Salty Dawgs 11-5 to put them into the winner's bracket undefeated game against Gimmie Dat Softball.
Gimmie Dat Softball now had to sit back and wait until the loser's bracket was played all the out to it's conclusion before knowing which of the remaining teams would earn the right to be their challenger in the 2006 Illinois ASA Men's Class C state championship game.
When the dust settled back down on to the field of play after the final play had been written into the official score book Gimmie Dat Softball saw that they were to have a rematch with Pub II / Pal in the title game.
Gimmie Dat Softball never lost their focus as a team and kept up their winning way s as they complete their undefeated run to the 2006 Illinois ASA Men's Class C State championship by winning 14-12 over Pub II / Pal in the deciding final game of this year's state tournament.
Pub II /Pal made it to the state championship game by opening play against Team Adrenaline on Friday night and posted a impressive 21-1 win onto the bracket to advance into Saturday's second round of tournament action. Pub II /Pal met Mag Team on Saturday afternoon and improved their record to 2-0 with a 23-11 win. Team Mag had defeated Wicked Air on Saturday morning 12-7 to advance into this game against Pub II / Pal.
Later on Saturday afternoon [playing in the quarter finals of the winner's bracket Pub II / Pal tangled with Well Hung Drywall and came out on top winning 21-17 to move into the Sunday morning semifinal round of the winner's bracket. Well Hung Drywall made it to this quarter final game of the winner's bracket by opening play on Friday night with a play in game 21-6 win over the Stooges. Earlier on Saturday Well Hung Drywall had defeated Parkway Auto Laundry 19-16 in the first round of tournament play before stopping Power Barn 16-6 to advance into their quarter final round game with Pub II / Pal later on Saturday.
