Floyd DaileyChampions Of Louisville Slugger/ISA Men's Class E N.I.T.

Head First received a first round bye in this twelve team tournament before taking on and defeating the Stadium Club from Peoria 10-6 to advance into the semifinal round of this N.I.T. The Stadium Club had advanced into this second round game with Head First by defeating Broad Band Direct from Pekin 9-7 in the first round of tournament play.
Head First defeated Gabberts in their semifinal game on Saturday afternoon 15-5 to move into Sunday morning undefeated game of the winner's bracket. Gabberts made it to the semifinal I in this tournament by opening play with a first round 14-8 win over BWW/Tee Excavating from Plainfield and than they defeated Brass rail 4-3 in the second round to advance into the semifinals of this tournament.
On Sunday morning Head First won the showdown game with Floyd Dailey by a final score of 12-6 to give them the title to the winner's bracket and also assuring them of a spot in the tournament's championship game against whichever team that would emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge them in the finals.
Head First now had to sit and wait until the loser's bracket was complete and when it was a rematch with Floyd Dailey awaited them in the championship game. This afternoon belonged to Floyd Dailey as they upended previously unbeaten Head First 12-3 in the championship game to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played in order to determine which of these two teams would be the champion. The extra game also went to Floyd Dailey 5-4 as head First was forced to accept second place form the 2005 Louisville Slugger Men's Class ISA N.I.T.
Head First did not provide Illinois Softball Report with any team information, stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to achieve their second place finish at this tournament.
