DJ's
Auto & Truck 4th at USSSA 45 & over World
The Naperville ball club with only thirteen players available had
to fight through four players getting injured, plus they also had
to deal with a tightened security of a US Military Installation
due to the September 11th events. The player's cars and bat bags
were searched everytime they entered the base.
DJ's opened play on Saturday with one-sided loss to Pepsi-Cola from
Kentucky 23-9. They regrouped to defeat Nugent Sand Company from
Kentucky 14-10 in the losers bracket.
DJ's improved their record to 2-1 with a 15-9 win over JoJamey from
Tennessee. Saturday's fourth game was a 25-20 win over the USSSA
50 & Over World Champions, Riverside Paving/50 from Tennessee.
DJ's fifth game on Saturday was sweet renege as they outlasted Pepsi-Cola
in a two hour marathon game 38-34 to eliminate the team that had
put them into the losers bracket in the first round of this tournament.
Four team returned to play on Sunday with a depleted DJ's Auto &
Truck repair being no match for Reilly Chiropractic from Ohio as
the Illinois entry fell 36-19 to finish with a 4-2 record and the
fourth place trophy from this World Tournament.
BBC/Loockies from Sterling Heights, Michigan was the eventual champion,
with Wartrom Masters from Richmond, Michigan finishing second and
Reilly Chiropractic from Goslen, Ohio taking home third place.
