Culver's Win USSSA Class E NIT
5-0 In Four Team Round Robin Format
With Playoffs

Culver's from Byron won the 23rd Annual Worth/USSSA Women's Class
E NIT with a perfect 5-0 record. The champions were led to the title
by the play of Terri Roemer who was named as the Most Valuable Player
of the tournament. Thee other players from Culver were also named
to the All-Tournament team and they were Kelly Kloepping, Pam Huges
and Debbie Murray. Head First (2-3) finished in second place and
they were led to that finish by the play of Liz McCully who was
named as the 'Defensive MVP' of the tournament as her teammate Amy
Browne also joined her on the all-Tournament team. Rebels (2-2)
finished in third place with Shooter's North (0-4) taking home fourth
place
Culver's opened the round robin play with a 15-6 win over the Rebels
in the first round of tournament action. Culver's improved to 2-0
with a 19-5 win over Head First in the second rotation of the round
robin. Culvers complete their undefeated sweep of the round robin
portion of the tournament by posting a 19-6 win over Shooters North
on Saturday.
On Sunday in a single elimination format the top seeded team played
the fourth seeded team based on Saturday's pool play results and
Culver's again posted a victory onto the bracket board as they narrowly
escaped with an 12-11 win over Shooter's North to put them into
the championship game of this tournament. Culver's completed their
undefeated run to the championship by beating Head First 13-2 in
the title game.

stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to achieve their
victory in winning this tournament.
Tournament runner-up Head First opened play on Saturday with an
8-7 win over Shooter's North in the first round of tournament pool
play. The ladies from Crete dropped their second contest to Culver's
by a final score of 19-5 to even their record at one win and one
loss in pool play. In Saturday's third and final game of the pool
play portion of this tournament it was Head First losing to the
Rebels 12-1 as the ladies from Crete finished with a 1-2 pool play
record and the third seed in Sunday's single elimination tournament
for the championship.
On Sunday morning Head First met the Rebels and they pulled off
the upset stopping the Rebels by a final score of 13-11 to advance
into the championship game against unbeaten Culver's.
Head First dream of upending Culver's ended at this point in time
as they lost to Culvers 13-2 to finish in second place at this tournament.
