E in Plano - Coldwell Banker from Yorkville

Yorkville bounced back in the 'if necessary game' to defeat Seco
(4-2) from Aurora 8-3 to win the title at the USSSA Men's Class
E Great Lakes national Tournament qualifier played at Klatt Field
in Plano on July 15th & 16th. The champions will be playing
at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National Tournament
to be held over Labor Day Weekend in Rockford. G-Force Labels (5-2)
from Plano took home third place with the Wreckers (2-2) from West
Chicago finishing in third place and both Damaged Goods (3-2) from
Sugar Grove and M & S Express (2-2) finishing in a tie for fifth
place at this tournament.
Coldwell Banker opened play on Saturday morning with a game against
Aurora Athletic Club from Aurora and posted a win onto the bracket
board by a final score of 9-6 to advance into the second round of
tournament play. In the second round on Saturday morning it was
Coldwell Banker defeating Intergra from Plano 9-4 to advance them
into Sunday morning semifinal round of the winner's bracket in this
tournament. Intergra had won their first round game against Damaged
Goods 4-3 to move into this second round match up with Coldwell
Banker.
On Sunday morning it was Coldwell banker and M & S Express from
Plano locking horns with one another in a semifinal game with Coldwell
Banker coming out on top by a final score of 18-9 to move into Sunday
afternoon's winner's bracket championship game. M & S Express
opened play on Saturday morning with a first round 14-11 win over
Xtreme from Aurora. In their second game they met and defeated the
Beavers from Lombard 10-7. The Beavers had received a first round
bye in this tournament to advance into their second round contest
with M & S Express.
In the game between the tournament's last two remaining unbeaten
teams it was Coldwell Banker defeating Seco 12-5 to give them the
championship to the winner's bracket and this win also assured them
of a spot in the tournament's championship game against which ever
of the remaining teams that would emerge from the loser's bracket
to challenge them for the title.
That team turned out to be Seco as a rematch of the undefeated game
took place in the championship game with Seco turning the tables
on Coldwell Banker winning 5-4. This win force the need to play
the 'if necessary game' between these two ball club in order to
determine which of them would be the champion of this tournament.
In that extra game it was Coldwell banker stopping Seco 8-3 to claim
their title and the berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class
E Great Lakes National Tournament.
Seco made it to the championship game by opening play with a first
round bye on Saturday afternoon before meting and defeating G-Force
Labels in the second round by a finals score of 14-6 to advance
Seco into Sunday morning's semifinal round of the winner's bracket
in this tournament. G-Force Label had defeated Office/Chaos from
Spring Grove 5-3 earlier on Saturday afternoon in the first round
of play to advance in the bracket to meet Seco in the second round
of tournament play.
On Sunday morning Seco and the Wreckers took the field to play each
other with Seco coming out on top winning 10-0 to move them into
Sunday afternoon's winner's bracket championship game against Coldwell
banker.
In this game Seco stubbed their toe losing to Coldwell banker 12-5
to drop them into the loser's bracket where they needed to win in
order to earn a second chance at playing Coldwell banker for the
title at this tournament.
Seco did just that as they sent G-Force Label to the parking lot
with third place after beating them 12-6 in the loser's bracket
finals. This win also gave Seco a second shot at unbeaten Coldwell
Banker and Seco made good on their second change as they defeated
Coldwell Banker 5-4 to force the need to play that 'if necessary
game' between these two team in order to determine which of them
would be the tournament champion. The extra game belonged to Coldwell
Banker as Seco was forced to accept second place from this tournament
after dropping an 8-3 decision to Coldwell Banker in the deciding
game of the tournament.
