PLANO: Coldwell Banker (5-1) Yorkville bounced back in the 'if necessary game' to defeat Seco (4-2) from Aurora 8-3 to win the title at the USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes national Tournament qualifier played at Klatt Field in Plano on July 15th & 16th. The champions will be playing at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National Tournament to be held over Labor Day Weekend in Rockford. G-Force Labels (5-2) from Plano took home third place with the Wreckers (2-2) from West Chicago finishing in third place and both Damaged Goods (3-2) from Sugar Grove and M & S Express (2-2) finishing in a tie for fifth place at this tournament.

In the second round on Saturday morning it was Coldwell Banker defeating Intergra from Plano 9-4 to advance them into Sunday morning semifinal round of the winner's bracket in this tournament. Intergra had won their first round game against Damaged Goods 4-3 to move into this second round match up with Coldwell Banker.
On Sunday morning it was Coldwell banker and M & S Express from Plano locking horns with one another in a semifinal game with Coldwell Banker coming out on top by a final score of 18-9 to move into Sunday afternoon's winner's bracket championship game. M & S Express opened play on Saturday morning with a first round 14-11 win over Xtreme from Aurora. In their second game they met and defeated the Beavers from Lombard 10-7. The Beavers had received a first round bye in this tournament to advance into their second round contest with M & S Express.
In the game between the tournament's last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Coldwell Banker defeating Seco 12-5 to give them the championship to the winner's bracket and this win also assured them of a spot in the tournament's championship game against which ever of the remaining teams that would emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge them for the title.
That team turned out to be Seco as a rematch of the undefeated game took place in the championship game with Seco turning the tables on Coldwell Banker winning 5-4. This win force the need to play the 'if necessary game' between these two ball club in order to determine which of them would be the champion of this tournament. In that extra game it was Coldwell banker stopping Seco 8-3 to claim their title and the berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National Tournament.
Seco made it to the championship game by opening play with a first round bye on Saturday afternoon before meting and defeating G-Force Labels in the second round by a finals score of 14-6 to advance Seco into Sunday morning's semifinal round of the winner's bracket in this tournament. G-Force Label had defeated Office/Chaos from Spring Grove 5-3 earlier on Saturday afternoon in the first round of play to advance in the bracket to meet Seco in the second round of tournament play.
On Sunday morning Seco and the Wreckers took the field to play each other with Seco coming out on top winning 10-0 to move them into Sunday afternoon's winner's bracket championship game against Coldwell banker.
In this game Seco stubbed their toe losing to Coldwell banker 12-5 to drop them into the loser's bracket where they needed to win in order to earn a second chance at playing Coldwell banker for the title at this tournament.
Seco did just that as they sent G-Force Label to the parking lot with third place after beating them 12-6 in the loser's bracket finals. This win also gave Seco a second shot at unbeaten Coldwell Banker and Seco made good on their second change as they defeated Coldwell Banker 5-4 to force the need to play that 'if necessary game' between these two team in order to determine which of them would be the tournament champion. The extra game belonged to Coldwell Banker as Seco was forced to accept second place from this tournament after dropping an 8-3 decision to Coldwell Banker in the deciding game of the tournament.
