Eight Teams Participate At Melas
Fields In Arlington Heights
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS: Circus went
a perfect 4-0 to win the NSA Men's Class E World Series Qualifier
held at Melas Fields in Arlington Height on April 29th. The champions
will be playing at the 2006 NSA Men's Class E World Series in September.
Gendron's (3-2) finished in second place, with X-Tra Bases (3-2)
taking home third place and Psyscos (2-2) finishing in fourth place
at this tournament.
Circus opened play with a first round win over Good To Go by a final
scorer of 18-5. In their second game of this event it was Circus
over Psyscos 13-2 to put them into the winner's bracket finals.
Psyscos made it to this second round match-up with Circus by defeating
X-tra Bases 17-16 in the first round of tournament play. In the
game between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten team it
was Circus over Gendron's 15-13 to assure Circus of a spot the tournament
championship game against whichever remaining team that would eventually
win the loser's bracket. That team turned out to be Gendron's and
a rematch of the winner's bracket championship game was to be played.
It was the Circus holding serve in the title game (no score was
reported) as they defeated Gendron's to claim the title and the
2006 NSA Men's Class E World Series berth that goes with the tournament's
championship.
Runner-up Gendron's opened tournament play with a big 22-4 win over
Chaos in the first round of action. In the second round of tournament
play it was Gendron's defeating the Dirt Bags 12-2 to move into
the winner's bracket championship game. In the game between the
last two remaining unbeaten teams, Gendron's suffered a loss as
the fell to the Circus by a final score of 15-13 to drop the into
the loser's bracket where they needed to win in order to get a second
shot at both Circus and the 2006 NSA Men's Class World Series Berth.
Gendron's stopped X-tra Bases cold in the loser's bracket championship
game, winning 15-2 to assure them of a second chance at playing
Circus in this tournament. No score was reported in the title game
but Circus did win giving them the title and forcing Gendron's to
accept second place from this event.
