TPS / ISA Men's Class E NIT Champions

URBANA: Chicago Hot Dogs (7-1)
from Naperville stormed out of the loser's bracket winning five
straight games to win the 'TPS/ISA Men's Class E N.I.T. held at
the Brickhouse Complex in Urbana on June 2nd & 3rd over a field
of seventeen teams. The champions earned a paid berth to play at
the 2007 ISA Men's Class E World Tournament to be held September
29th & 30th in Polk County, FL, a berth to play at the 2007
ISA Men's Class E National Tournament to be played August 25th &
26th at the brickyard Complex in Urbana, a berth to play at the
2007 IS Men's Class E state Tournament to be held July 21st &
22nd at the Brickhouse Complex in Urbana plus the team also received
three TPS bats. Tournament runner-up Cold Beer (4-2) from Urbana
earned a paid state berth plus two TPS bats. Third place went to
Dizzy Deans/Dave's Pizza (3-2) from Bartonville who earned one TPS
bat. The Beer Hunters (4-2) from Urbana finished in fourth place
with Dailey Law (3-2) and JBH (2-2) finishing in tie for fifth place
at this tournament.
Chicago Hot Dogs were led to the title by the play of Cory Ferger
was named as the 2007 MVP. Joining Ferger on the 'All-Tournament
Team' were his teammates Tim Navin, Tristan Reimolds, Tyler Ryan,
Dave Hardman and Don Carlson.
In their open game of the tournament Chicago Hot Dogs met Four Season
Resort from Effingham and came away with an impressive 20-4 win
to advance into the second round of play.
In the second round of play Chicago Hot Dogs and JJ's Pub from Ottawa
squared off with each other as the Chicago Hot Dogs ball club posted
their second win onto the bracket board advancing after an 18-1
victory. J J's Pub had advance into this second round game by defeating
Daley Law from Pekin 20-4 in the first round of tournament action.
Now playing in the semifinal of the winner's bracket Chicago Hot
Dogs and Dizzy Deans/Dave's Pizza tangled with one another as the
Bartonville based Dizzy Deans/Dave's Pizza winning 19-18 to move
into the winner's bracket finals while the Chicago Hot Dogs ball
club dropped into the loser's bracket.
Once in the loser's bracket Chicago Hot Dogs regrouped quickly and
defeated Daley Law 12-9 to finish play on Saturday with a 3-1 record.
On Sunday morning with only four teams remaining in this tournament
the Chicago Hot Dogs squad started their day off with an impressive
12-0 over the Beer Hunters.
A rematch with Dizzy Dean's/Dave's Pizza was next up on the agenda
for the Chicago Hot Dog and revenge tasted sweet as they eliminated
the team that had put them into the loser's bracket the day before
winning 9-5 to earn the right to play unbeaten Cold Beer in the
championship game.
In a wild back and forth a game that was truly not over until it
is over Chicago Hot Dogs found a way to win edging Cold Beer 21-20
to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between
these two ball club to decide who the tournaments champion would
be and the World Tournament berth that goes to that champion.
