C & C Plumbing Wins USSSA Class D Qualifier

Ten Teams Particiapte At VFW Post In Rochelle On June 3rd

ROCHELLE: C & C Plumbing from Rochelle won the Illinois USSSA Men's Class D/E Equalizer Great Lakes National Tournament Qualifier played at the Rochelle VFW Post in Rochelle on June 3rd with a perfect 4-0 record over a field of ten teams participating. The champions qualified to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class D Great Lakes National Tournament to be held in Sterling Heights, Michigan over Labor Day Weekend. Stables (6-2) from Dixon finished in second place with Kro-Hop (2-2) from St Charles taking home third place and Dairy Queen Grill & Chill (4-2) from Rockford finishing in fourth place at this tournament.
C & C Plumbing opened play with a 1307 first round win over N.W.A. Softball Club from Rockford to advance into the second round of play where they met and defeated Plano Legion / Vineyard Liquors from Plano 9-4. Plano Legion / Vineyard Liquors had beaten the Rebels from Rockford 13-7 in the first round of tournament play to advance into this second round game with C & C Plumbing.
C & C Plumbing was now playing in the winner's bracket undefeated game where they were matched against Kro-Hop and they pounded out an impressive 15-5 win to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament and also with that win assuring themselves a spot in the championship game against whichever team that wins the loser's bracket to earn the right to challenge them in the finals.
That team turned out to be Stables as C & C Plumbing went about completing their undefeated run to the title to earn the berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class D Great Lakes National Tournament in Michigan by beating Stables 12-9.
Stables made it to the championship game by doing thing the long and hard way the lost in a play in game to the first round of tournament play before making their run to the title game. Stable were put down by the Rebels 19-11 in that play in game and spent the rest of the tournament playing with their backs against the walls I the loser's bracket. Stable eliminated N.W.A. Softball Club from Rockford first after beating them 21-3 to advance in the bracket. Next to exit this tournament at the hands of Stables was Nestle was dismissed after absorbing a 25-4 beating from Stables. Sweet revenge raised it pretty head next and Stables took full advantage beat the team that had put them into the loser's bracket earlier in the day as the Rebels were sent back home to Rockford after losing to Stables 11-8. Next to fall under the sword of the Stables ball club was Fatty's Pub from De Kalb who was sent to the parking lot after losing to Stables 21-13. Dairy Queen Grill & Chill was next up on the Stables dance card and they played a close game with Stables slipping past the Rockford squad 8-7 to advance them into the loser's bracket championship game where they met Kro-Hop in game where the winner gets to play C & C Plumbing for the tournament title. Stables continued their long string of victories as they excused Kro-Hop from this tournament with a third place finish after beating them 14-4 to earn the right to oppose unbeaten C & C Plumbing in the title game. Stables dreams of coming all the way back through the loser's bracket ended here as C & C Plumbing proved to be the better team on this day compete their undefeated run to the tournament title by berating Stable 12-9 in the final game.
