2006 'Gumby' Lower Level

Ten Teams Participated At Springfield On May 6th & 7th

SPRINGFIELD: The Bombers Softball club (4-0) won the 2006 'Gumby lower lever tournament played at the Four Season's Complex in Springfield on May 6th & 7th by defeating Slick Rick's (4-2) in the 'title game. HRC (2-2) finished in third place with Players (2-2) taking home fourth place from this event.
Bomber's Softball opened play with a win over Pub II 26-12 in the first round of tournament play. Pub II had to have won a play in game over 6-4-3 by the final score of 25-9 in order to advance into this match up with Bombers Softball in the first round of tournament play. Bombers than stopped Players in their second round game 19-18 to advance into Sunday's winner's bracket finals. Players had defeated the Vipers 17-10 in the first round to advance into this game with Bombers Softball in the second round.
On Sunday morning it was the bombers Softball club and HRC hooking up in a game that featured the last two remaining unbeaten teams left in this tournament with the Bombers winning 15-6 to assure them of a spot in the championship game against whichever team that wins the loser's bracket to earn the right to challenge them in the title game. HRC made it to the winner's bracket undefeated game by stopping Rusty's Club House in the first round on Saturday 17-3 before defeating Slick Rick's on Saturday afternoon 12-11 to advance into the undefeated game on Sunday.
That team turned out to be Slick Ricks and the Bombers Softball team put the ribbon on their tournament championship cashing in the first place prize money for their efforts in this event by winning 12-11..
Slick Rick's made it to the championship game by opening tournament play with a 22-12 win over Walter Ladd in the first round before dropping a Saturday afternoon contest to HRC 12-11 to put them in the loser's bracket. Slick Rick's played one loser's bracket game on Saturday as they defeated Pub II 26-21 to move into Sunday's games.
On Sunday morning Slick Rick's stopped Rusty's Clubhouse 12-4 to move into the loser's bracket finals where they met and defeated HRC to gain a measure of revenge by winning 15-6 along with keeping their tournament hopes alive.
Slick Rick's hopes came crashing down in the championship game as the Bombers Softball club defeated them 12-11 to send them back home in second place from this tournament.
