The Bombers Win Gumby's Open Class
C

SPRINGFIELD: The Bombers from
Mackinaw won the nine team ASA Men's Class D Tournament at the 2005
Gumby Opened played at the Four Season Softball Complex in Springfield
on April30th & May 1st with a perfect 4-0 record. They received
a paid AS National Berth for their efforts in this tournament. Second
place went to Slick Ricks (3-2) from Bloomington who also took home
a paid AA Men's Class C National Berth. Big Ox Softball (3-2) from
Wyoming took home third place which included an unpaid national
berth with the Vipers (3-2) finishing in fourth place.

any final game scores to work from.
The Bombers opened play with a win over the Vipers. The Vipers drew
a play in game and had previously defeated Miller Lite to earn their
way into this game against the Bombers.
Next up for the Bombers was a match up with Big Ox Softball with
the Bombers winning for the second time in two attempts as they
continued their advance towards the tournament title. Big OX Softball
had advanced to this game by defeating Top Shot As in the first
round of tournament play.
In the game between the last two remaining unbeaten teams the Bombers
squared off with Slick Ricks and posted their third straight win
up onto the bracket board to secure their place in the championship
game against whichever team would emerge from the loser's bracket
to challenge them in the title contest.
When the Bombers retook the field again a rematch with Slick Rick's
was in store for them in the championship game. The Bomber were
up to the task at hand this day winning for the second straight
time over Slick Rick's to claim their title at this tournament.

team highlights stats or quotes on how they were able to win this
tournament.
Runner-up Slick Rick's made it to the tournament's championship
game by opening play against D's Nuts and hanging a 'W' onto the
bracket board to start their off toward the title game on the right
foot. In the second round of play Slick Rick's met and defeated
Coors Light to move into the winner's bracket championship game
against the Bombers. Coors Light had advanced by stopping the Wise
Guys in the first round of tournament play.
Slick Rick's fell to the Bombers in the undefeated game dropping
them loser's bracket championship game where they met Big Ox Softball
with the right to challenge unbeaten Bombers in the title contest
going to the winner of this game. It Was Slick Rick's who prevailed
over Big Ox Softball earning the right to play in the championship
game.
Slick Rick's could not get any closer this day as they were defeated
for the second straight time by the Bombers and this loss forced
them to settle for second place .

information, stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to
finish in second place at this tournament.
