Blackhawk Athletic Club Wins USSSA
Women's Class C
Seven Teams Participate At Forest
Hills Diamonds In Rockford On June 4th

ROCKFORD: Blackhawk Athletic
Club went 6-1 to won the USSSA Women's Class C National Qualifying
Tournament held at the Forest Hills Lanes in Rockford on May 29th
& 30th by double dipping Dilligaf (3-2) from Lansing 13-3 and
7-6 in the 'if game'. Primetime (2-2) from Charleston finished in
third place with Neighbors Bar & Grill (1-2) from Rockford taking
home fourth place from this seven team event.
The Blackhawk Athletic Club opened play with a 10-8 win over Add-A-Bath/Demarini
from Gurnee in their opening contest of this tournament. Game number
two was not kind to the Rockford ladies as they fell to Primetime
8-0 to drop them into the loser's bracket in this tournament.
A rematch with Add-A-Bath/Demarini was the Blackhawk Athletic Club's
first game in the loser's bracket with the Rockford ladies posting
a 14-6 win to advance.
Neighbors Bar & Grill was the next opponent for the Blackhawk
Athletic Club with Blackhawk Athletic Club hanging a 20-13 win up
onto the bracket board to advance again.
Sweet revenge now presented itself to the Blackhawk Athletic Club
and the took full advantage of this opportunity by defeating and
sending home the team that had put them into the loser's bracket,
Primetime by a final score of 7-4. This win also earned Blackhawk
Athletic Club the title to the loser's bracket advancing them into
the tournament s championship game where they needed to upend Dilligaf's
twice to win the title.
Blackhawk Athletic Club let it be know to Dilligaf that they meant
to do just that when they won the first game by the run rule 13-3
to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played in order
to determine which of these two ball clubs would win this tournament
title.
The extra game was a narrow one run win for the ladies playing as
the Blackhawk Athletic Club as they slipped past Dilligaf 7-6 to
win the championship of this tournament.
The Blackhawk Athletic Club did not provide Illinois Softball Report
with any information, stats, team highlights or quotes on how they
were able to win this tournament.
Tournament runner up Dilligaf opened play with a 12-2 win over O'Brady's/ABP
from St. Charles in their opening contest of this event. The Lansing
ladies improved to 2-0 with a 23-17 win over Neighbors Bar &
Grill. In the game between the tournament's last two unbeaten teams
it was Dilligaf over Primetime 11-9 as the Lansing ladies won the
winner's bracket assuring a spot to play in the tournament's championship
game against whichever team that would emerge from the loser's bracket
to challenge them in the finals.
That team turned out to be Blackhawk Athletic Club and the promptly
handed out a decisive 13-3 win over Dilligaf to even the tournament
at one loss each with one game to be played. In that last game it
was Blackhawk Athletic Club edging out Dilligaf 7-6 to send the
ladies from Lansing home with second place from this tournament.
Dilligaf did not provide Illinois Softball Report with any team
information, stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to
achieve their second place finish at this tournament.
