Beehive Pub Champions Of USSSA D/E In St Charles

Eight Teams Participate In One day Event On June 30th

Champions of USSSA D/E National Qualifier - BeeHive Pub from St Charles

ST CHARLES: The Beehive Pub (4-1) from St Charles came back in the 'if necessary game' to defeat Kro-Hop (5-2) from St. Charles 14-4 to win the Illinois USSSA Men's Class D/E Equalizer tournament held at the East Side Sports Complex in St Charles on June 30th. The Wreckers / St. Isaac's Construction (2-2) from West Chicago took home third place with Fabri-Tec (2-2) from Naperville finishing in fourth place. The champion will be playing at both the 2007 Illinois USSSA Men's Class E State Tournament to be held in Joliet in August plus the 2007 USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National Tournament to be held in Rockford over Labor Day Weekend. Tournament runner up Kro-hop earned a berth to play at the 2007 Illinois USSSA Men's Class D State Tournament in Rockford plus a berth to play at the 2007 USSSA Men's Class D National Tournament to be held in Indianapolis, IN over Labor day Weekend.
Beehive Pub opened tournament action with a narrow one run win slipping past the Tiger Club #1 SL from Aurora 15-14 to advance in the bracket. In the second round of tournament play Beehive Pub came from behind to upend Fubars from St Charles in another one run win as the posted a 13-12 victory onto the bracket board to advance into the winners bracket championship game. Fubars had previously defeated Midwest Garage Door from De Kalb 21-10 in the first round of play to advance into this semifinal game against the Beehive Pub.
In the tournament undefeated game Beehive Pub and Wreckers / St. Isaac's Construction locked horns with one another with the beehive pub winning 10-6 to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament. This win also assured the Beehive Pub of a spot in the tournament's championship game against whichever tea that would emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge them in the championship game. Wreckers / St. Isaac's made it to the tournament's undefeated game by opening play with a first round 15-5 win over 2NQ Softball from Crystal Lake before stopping Fabri-Tec 13-8 in the semifinal to earn the right to play in the undefeated game of this tournament against Beehive Pub.
In the championship game Beehive Pub met Kro-Hop with the challenger handing Beehive Pub a one run loss to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two squads in order to be able to determine which of them would be the champion of this tournament. In that extra game it was all Beehive Pub as they registered an impressive 14-4 win to put a ribbon on the tournament title.
Tournament runner up Kro-Hop did things the hard ay by dropping their opening game to Fabri-Tec 16-6 sending them into the loser's bracket from the get go of this tournament. Kro-Hop responded to upend 2NQ Softball as they posted a 20-7 win onto the bracket board to advance in the loser's bracket. Next up was a match-up with Fubars and neither team could generate any offense in this game but somehow Kro-Hop managed to plate a single run as they won 1-0 to continue their advancement in the loser's bracket. Kro-Hop won another one run win as they edged Fabri-Tec 8-7 to advance into the loser's bracket finals. Kro-Hop earned their place in the tournament's championship game by defeating Wreckers / St Isaac's Construction 18-8 to earn the right to challenge unbeaten Beehive pub in the title contest. Kro-hop needing two more straight wins went to work as they evened the tournament at one loss each after posting an 11-10 win over Beehive pub that forced the need to have the extra game played between these two ball club in order to be able to determine which of them would wear home the crown of champion of this tournament. Kro-Hop just did not have anything left in their tank as they hit the wall in a 14-4 loss to Beehive pub to finish in second place.
