Thirteen Teams Participate At East Side Sports Complex In St Charles

Champions of the USSSA D/E In St Chalrtes - The Beavers from Lombard

ST CHARLES: The Beavers (5-0) from Lombard won the thirteen team USSSA Men's Class D/E Equalizer Tournament held at the East Side Sports Complex on July 1st earning a berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National tournament to be held overt Labor Day Weekend in Rockford. Brew Dogs / Alpine Machine Service (3-2) from Glen Ellyn took home second place and earned a berth to play at the USSSA Men's Class D Great Lakes National Tournament to be held over Labor Day Weekend in Sterling Heights, MI. Wreckers (4-2) from West Chicago took home third place with Costa's /Precision Home Insurance (3-2) finishing in fourth place.
The Beavers opened tournament play with a 14-4 win over Souse's / Fusion from Rockford in their first contest of this tournament. Kro-Hop from St Charles fell to The Beavers 6-5 in the second round of play advancing the Glen Ellen ball club into the semifinal of the winner's bracket.
The Beavers regained their hitting touch in their third game as they poured seventeen runs across the pay-station to defeat Costa's / Precision Home Insurance 17-9.
In the game between the last two remaining unbeaten ball clubs The Beavers stopped the Brew Dogs / Alpine Machine Service 18-7 to earn their spot in the championship game against whichever team would emerge from the loser's bracket to challenge them in the title game.
A rematch with Brew Dogs / Alpine Machine Service took place in the title game with The Beavers completing their march towards an undefeated title winning by a 14-4 margin.
Brew Dogs / Alpine Machine Service received a first round bye before taking on and defeating Damaged Goods from Sugar Grove in the second round of play and defeating them 14-11. In their semifinal contest of this tournament it was Brew Dogs / Alpine Machine Service over Fatty's Pub from De Kalb in a close game 16-15.
Brew Dogs / Alpine Machine Service fell to The Beavers 18-7 in the winner's bracket finals dropping them into the loser's bracket championship game where they met and defeated the Wreckers 17-14 to earn a second chance at The Beavers.
The final game was all The Beavers as they sent Brew Dogs / Alpine Machine Service home with second place after beating them 14-2 in the title game.
